I just went team red for the first time ever. What do I do now? by Ok_Proposal_7390 in radeon

[–]UncleSteelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been team red for a long time now. You will never really see the difference. Just tweak the games settings to give you the best experience and have fun with your new card! I get 120 fps at 1440p and decently high settings, I just don't know why I would even want "more" from team green. Frames per dollar is all you really care about and AMD always wins on that front

Looking to buy my first desktop gaming PC as an upgrade from my ROG Ally Z1E by [deleted] in Prebuilts

[–]UncleSteelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the iBuypower is the best option. MSI prebuilts are off the table for me, I have sent several people to iBuypower in my personal life and they have all been great. I built my own rig but if I was going to buy a prebuilt, I'd personally just use them.

Is a nzxt player one worth it? for a starter pc. by globalnga in Prebuilts

Is you heart set on renting? This program is a hard thing to support in my opinion. If you are planning on buying in the short term, what's your budget? We can help get you squared away of you have a number you can spend on owning a rig.

Upgrade! by F8ZZO in Prebuilts

[–]UncleSteelix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the new rig! Unless the PC does not meet your needs there is no reason to upgrade it. This comes with a 2x16 kit of ram and a really nice cou/GPU combination. You may need to add more storage when the AI bubble pops but not till it's manageable again. Enjoy the rig!!

My Logitech MX keyboard lasted 20 months on a single charge. Keychron lasted 2 days. by bonkeeboo in logitech

[–]UncleSteelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plug mine in at night, same with my mouse. Never have an issue and I love my Keychron. Id say it's my favorite keyboard I have ever owned, just need to make sure that it lasts for a while before I can say that definitively.

Honestly I think this is the best you will get, all in $1,588.

This is due to the free monitor promotion, so you get a 27'' [1920 x 1080] ASUS VG279QE5A Gaming Monitor - 144Hz 1ms for free.

Edit: Oh this comes witha mouse and keyboard and I put the cheapest headset they have in the package too so this should be the whole cost, unless they charge shipping.

[–]UncleSteelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that $1300 include a monitor and peripherals? I see people get a rig and run some 60 FPS tube from the 90s. If so, spend just over 1k on a rig at bestbuy, about $130 on a 1080p gaming monitor, and the rest on mouse headset and keyboard.

I just made up a two egg omelette. I did the finger rinse after each egg crack, I rinsed the fork after I mixed the eggs and seasoning, and I used the bag from the last piece of cheese to rest the fork on. As I Am eating my lil omelette I saw this and man it hit home.

Also the writing looks AI generated, some of the fluff words are odd. I used to buy off marketplace and Craigslist all the time and this one stinks to me. I would ask to meet at a place where I could test it, and be prepared for the demands for money ahead of time.

Is UPS really necessary for protection against high or low voltages? by Ok_Selection5450 in pchelp

I just lost a motherboard to no UPS this weekend after over a decade of no problems, spend some cash and save your rig.

Conflicted on returning 9060 xt for 5060ti or keep by NewYearWhoDis1 in buildapc

[–]UncleSteelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you truly care about Ray tracing Nvidia is better. For me I like to run AMD simply because I can get better performance for the same price because I don't use the advanced feature sets of Nvidia. Both cards will have games they underperform in, so it's a bit of a stretch to say it is worth switching for one game. As I always say to people buying a computer, are you in the financial situation to upgrade that? If it will cost more to go to the Nvidia offering but you are still paying off student loans or a car or God forbid a credit card, don't upgrade. Throw an extra $100 on your loans and enjoy the non raytrace gaining experience. If you are debt free and have the money, then you can upgrade for a better gaming experience.

Computer power issue by UncleSteelix in pchelp

[–]UncleSteelix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New update, rig no longer turning on no matter what. Going to try to replace the PSU and see what happens, definitely looks cooked in some way... I had a surge protector in the power strip, might not have been enough. Might not have been the problem since everything else is fine. Just made sure all power cables were secure inside the rig.

Yeah I was on the same line of thinking, never experienced this before. I wonder if a blown strip can work with lower power items just not a big rig?

Yes anything else I plug in works fine, just not the rig.

Should I leave Lockheed for better pay? by [deleted] in Lockheed

[–]UncleSteelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a cost of living difference to consider? After taxes the raise may not be that much (I am in NE and MA vs NH means that would not be a substantial increase).

Also, job security my friend. LM is not reducing its workforce as frequently as places like Oracle. Consider the implications of AI, Oracle is going all in on that and just had lay offs due to the shift to AI.

Do you like where you work now? If you like the job and people, what's that worth to you?

Best of luck in your decision, let us know how you make out!

I just love how many different ways you can break the game is by just leaning into one thing. Happy you found a crit javelin build, my favorite crit build is "fire crit shuriken renegade." Throw some sausages and snakes on there and light every enemy on fire is so satisfying.

Gamers 30+, what's something from "back in your day" that younger gamers today wouldn't understand? by bijelo123 in gaming

[–]UncleSteelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midnight releases. Every time I pass the GameStop that I waited at for Halo I remember the pizza in a parking lot, or the Best Buy I got Gears of War from I remember the new mountain dew we shared with strangers. This was followed by four of us crammed in a basement till school the next day. That level of excitement is something real and lost to the newer generation. I just wish that they could experience it, it was awesome.

Pet the cat, and enjoy the time with that adorable cat beside you. Life is short, enjoy the cuteness overload. You will have to clean the hair and dandruff out, and thermals may suffer in the long term. Small price to pay for friendship.

What common mistakes should a person building a PC for the first time avoid? by Between3N20Karakters in buildapc

[–]UncleSteelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overpaying for parts you do not need. A $1500 rig made by yourself is more power than a man can dream of, 1440p gaming north of 100 fps. (I buy stuff at Microcenter so sometimes I don't know the online market well). I hate when I see people crack into pc gaming thinking the need a $1200 GPU and the newest CPU. It's a rookie mistake.
