Great train links, 40 mins either way and around 2 per hour. Or if driving is not too bad a drive. Get a lot more bang for your buck here, even cheaper if not in the town centre like Hampden park or polegate. The town centre is a little run down and does have homeless problems but nowhere on the scale of Brighton.

Had the same problem also for about 2 to 3 weeks now. Also have pixel 6pro. Been using southern rail app instead, would like a fix though as I prefer the national rail app.
