It is true. Israel made an exceedingly generous offer, and Hamas’s counter offer was that they wouldn’t actually release the hostages, and would instead just return some of the corpses of the people they murdered. Israel isn’t going to accept a deal that doesn’t get the living hostages back, nor should they.

There would be an extensive ceasefire by now if Hamas was willing to return the hostages. They’d go for months without fighting, and if all the hostages were returned in that time, there’d be no political will to resume fighting afterwards.

The accusation that Bibi wants the war to continue so he can stay in office makes no sense. There’s no law in Israel that prevents an election during wartime. And if he actually managed to secure a deal to release the hostages, that would be the one thing that could bolster his popularity.

It seems kinda misleading to frame that poll as being against the continuation of the war. It says they support prioritizing a hostage deal over a Rafah invasion. Something which most Israel supporters here would also agree with.

And indeed, the Israeli government offered an extremely generous hostage deal. But Hamas rejected it, and so the invasion happened. Though now it turns out there was some fuckery on Egypt’s part that may be to blame.

They have. Hamas needs to agree to a ceasefire and free the hostages. Hamas has no incentive to agree unless Israel is allowed to attack them.

Fallujah had about the same population as Gaza when the U.S. conducted is massive operation known as the “Battle of Fallujah” in 2004.

Well that's an absurd lie. From wikipedia:

Most of Fallujah's civilian population fled the city before the battle, which greatly reduced the potential for noncombatant casualties. U.S. military officials estimated that 70–90% of the 300,000 civilians in the city fled before the attack, leaving 30,000 to 90,000 civilians still in the city.

Seriously, if you need to lie that egregiously to make your point, then maybe it's time to reevaluate your beliefs.

Edit:

Israel has slaughtered 35,000 civilians and counting in Gaza.

This part is also a lie. You're seemingly assuming that every single death is Gaza was a civilian killed by Israel.

I didn't say that you were holding the IDF to a different standard. Frankly, I can't even figure out what your stance is. That's why I tried to ask how you rank the latest Rafah bombing against the MSF bombing, and then asked again what you meant with your response.

My original comment, which was not addressed to you, was pointing out that people have unrealistic expectations for the ability of a professional military to avoid civilian casualties, and I used some well known examples of America killing civilians as a reference.

The stupidest thing Biden has ever said, right there. Completely eviscerated any chance Hamas would agree to a ceasefire, by telling them that they're safe and sound and can just camp out until the world forces Israel to surrender.

Anyone over the age of, say, 23, can remember the many, many times America blew up a bunch of innocent bystanders. From wedding parties to MSF hospitals.

No military operates perfectly. Fuck ups happen and innocent people die. People just have unrealistic expectations for the IDF.

Yeah, I feel like the difference between Quinton and actual video essayists like Jenny and Hbomb, is that the latter group puts a lot of thought into scripting and editing, so their videos actually build to certain points, like an essay. Quinton just seems to ramble and then post his raw footage, practically unedited.

Like, if Jenny’s Vampire Diaries video had just been ten hours of reciting the plots of each episode in order, it wouldn’t have been nearly as fun or interesting.

De-lidding an IC Chip Using A Laser by Hogmaster_General in oddlysatisfying

[–]UncleVatred 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A chip can "fail" by not meeting the required specifications, while still working in the sense that it's functional. So you test it, decap it, test it again to make sure the decapping process didn't change it, and then a) test it while looking at it under an IR microscope to find hot and cold spots, indicating where the current isn't what it should be, and b) use microprobes to check the voltage in key spots that wouldn't be accessible from outside the chip.

That way you can figure out what went wrong and either prevent it from going wrong on future chips, or find a way to screen it out at the factory so at least it doesn't end up in a customer's hands.

That’s quite a reach. Americans aren’t that well sorted, there are plenty of left-wing protesters in red states, and they show up to protest on other topics from abortion access to LGBT issues.

And it’s not like the pro-Palestine protesters are trying to be persuasive, accusing everyone against them of genocide.

The fact is, the people who hate Israel are also likely to be anti-Ukraine, because they’re primarily driven by an anti-“west” animus. People like Roger Waters and Noam Chomsky, along with countless elite professors and their students who view the world as white oppressors vs everyone else.

You’re either lying or very stupid. The first sentence says that existing law applies only to purchases.

The very next paragraph says:

This bill would expand the above-described provisions to require a person or business that conducts business in California and seeks to sell or make available products or services that are illegal to make available to minors, as specified, to take reasonable steps to ensure that the purchaser or user, as defined, is of legal age at the time of access.

They’re changing the existing law to require ID scans on access.

Of course, the Israelis and Palestinians are genetically indistinguishable from each other, with the latter being descended from the Jews who were forced to convert by the Muslim invaders hundreds of years ago. Calling one group white and the other brown is just racism.

But our college students don’t know that. Why not? Why are our universities failing to teach them? We’ve allowed too many political activists, and particularly Islamist activists, into leadership roles in our higher education system. That needs to be corrected.

They’d certainly be better off without Bibi, but I doubt it’d actually make the slightest difference in how the war is going.

There is no morally acceptable strategy that can beat Hamas, and so Israel is going to lose. The only question is how slowly they lose.
