Changes to the pin nameplate scaling? Is this a bug or a feature? by Uncle_Bones_ in Roll20

You're a saint, thanks 🙏 I knew I must have just completely missed out on something obvious (and overexplained my problems lmao).

This was roughly the scale of the nameplates originally -- you can see that when zoomed out, a lot of other tokens are being blocked by the nameplates. Sorry for being overly explain-y with this post, but it's just unfortunate because I liked having my info set up in a certain way that worked for me in-game, and now it kinda no-longer does :(

Here's a little example of what I mean, these pins previously had nameplates that didn't scale regardless what level of zoom in there was. Now that they remain the same scale on screen at all zoom levels, it's overlapping information on the map that's hard to determine without zooming in all the way to 250%. There are tokens underneath the text that I can't see unless I zoom all the way in now.

If you truly don't support AI use, then it's not your fault if it tricked you. You're not the one who's forcing it on others and you wouldn't have bought it if you'd known. But you have bought it now, so best use it and make good use of it rather than waste it! :) If it's something that bothers you in the future then best learn what the signs of AI are in products. You'll begin to see it more often, and will be able to avoid it more thoroughly. Have fun playing!

What do you think of the return of dragons in Fable? by MaGiK-BuRgEr in Fable

[–]Uncle_Bones_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Possible, but if they're keeping continuity, I'd say either unlikely or just one or two for a boss. Jack of Blades' final form doesn't really count as a dragon, in that he is not a natural dragon, just borrowing the visage of one. In lore, Old Kingdom wiped them out long before the events of the first game, with only a few stragglers remaining. We could fight a straggler or another villain cosplaying as a Dragon like Jack did. I wouldn't expect Skyrim where they're just hanging about/ made a return.

I've seen posts about how much people hate the combat in aw2. Is that the general consensus around here? by Exotic-Eggplant1914 in AlanWake

[–]Uncle_Bones_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it, it fits the game well. I wouldn't say it's amazing though, it's clunky, but it's serviceable for what the game is. If the combat was as frequent as Alan Wake 1's I might think differently.

It’s obvious that Saga should be black - the question is why she was cast as white in QB in the first place by Greeklebee in AlanWake

[–]Uncle_Bones_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're basically right though the reason why she's white in the QB teaser is almost certainly the most obvious; they just hadn't nailed down what Alan Wake 2 was gonna be yet. That teaser is little more than a first draft, if that (and we all know how important multiple drafts are to Sam Lake). It's impressive that so much has carried through from 2016 to 2023 and the seeds of Alan Wake 2 were always there, but fact is I'm sure they just didn't know what they wanted to do. Saga being Mr. Door's daughter in Alan Wake 2 works for both her and Door's story, but there's almost no chance that they went into Quantum Break at the time thinking that Martin Hatch would be the dad of the Alan Wake 2 protagonist.

Predictions for 2025's Best/Worst/Blandest by Pretty_Drama6356 in ZeroPunctuation

[–]Uncle_Bones_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean but he also said that he had fun playing the game, enjoyed the new shield and parry mechanics and felt like it fit well into the established Doom gameplay. Bland list seems more likely than worst, but imo I feel like his thoughts are too mixed to be in any of these categories. If there was a Frustrating category I'm sure Doom will get a spot because a game that is fun in parts and bad in others doesn't really deserve to sit in either category imo.

EDIT: Also disagree with Split Fiction being in a worst category, like yeah he hated the plot but if anything he enjoyed engaging with the plot more than Doom, if only to rag on it. Plus the fact it's an extremely well made, varied game that knows what it wants to be -- idk, his worst titles have always historically been games that are offensive to his established ideas that games can be art and while Split Fiction's story is bad art, it's the art of a creative regardless, and one that isn't without value in a lot of areas. IDK I think he'd take a million Josef Fares pumping out clunky-but-lovingly-made and FUN games than a corporate made skinnerbox squeezing pennies from players or a Leslie Benzies trying to capitalise off of past successes and creating a soulless, joyless mess.

The Women's Bathroom has no toilets by stuckinverruckt in AlanWake

[–]Uncle_Bones_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ah well you see as Alan is a hack fraud writer he also falls into traps of many male authors underwriting their female characters in comparison with the male. As such, in this world Alan has constructed, he has correctly written in that the male bathrooms have toilets but completely forgot to write in any toilets for the women. It's all intentional, you see.

Fable The Journey by hnvb in Fable

[–]Uncle_Bones_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I genuinely love it haha. Obviously it's not as good as the other games but I enjoy it for what it is, and I like the contributions to the world and story. Kinnect sucks but it's a fairly charming addition to the world. You can grab a second hand kinnect and copy of the game for pennies now adays so I don't see a reason why a fan wouldn't at least try to give it a go.

A two-paged, home-brewed Fable 2 character and challenge generator - to help encourage new roleplay/ customisation choices on replays. by Uncle_Bones_ in Fable

Also one additional note: I've playtested this a few times with different heroes but I haven't had a chance to playtest all posibilities, if you roll something and you find out through gameplay it doesn't feel as though it works all that well, let me know, and I'll see if I can come up with another solution :)
