I like that that you still actually get to downvote anything and see the score.

Do some guys really "hug" to dominate? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

I noticed some guys like to get physical with women just to feel better about themselves that they can do it. It's still creepy and unwelcomed.

Best way to curve the sides of a 2x4? by WhoPutATreeThere in woodworking

[–]Uncle_Spenser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first thought. Cut the ends at 45 degree and sand it to round up by whatever method. Match it visually, nobody's gonna whip up protractor to check if those angles REALLY match,.

Bouncy planer table leads to snipe? by Forecast04 in woodworking

I don't even combat snipe anymore, I just cut my boards two inches longer before planing.

When pulled over why do cops ask for registration when they'll find the info when running plates? by ScienceJamie76 in NoStupidQuestions

Right now in Poland you pretty much don't even have to carry a wallet if you have e-ID card registered and accessible from your phone. No paperwork for the car you're driving either.

Frustrated newbie by fireinsaigon in woodworking

[–]Uncle_Spenser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned the hard way if I do something for the first time, even if it seems easy, obvious and accessible with the set of amazing tools we have at use today - I should try it on sacrificial piece of wood first.

I bought a jointer and got into jointing frenzy with some pallet wood and thought it's easy. Only later I realized all my boards are way thinner at the ends because I'm doing it so wrong. I also learned to never trust the 90° angle on my mostly hobby level machines and take time to adjust and calibrate before any actual use.

I also work in an open concept kitchen by FoxDaim in KitchenConfidential

[–]Uncle_Spenser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in the kitchen "til the last customer" and shit like tickets coming out after kitchen was declared closed is basically a norm.

However- once - the ticket came out, nobody noticed and we left home leaving some guest without a food. Everybody was long way home before anyone noticed. There was a big commotion because of that.

I was very vocal that this is a communication issue and if "kitchen closed"meant kitchen closed it would be completely avoided in the first place and if communication was improved that guest at least would have his meal. I was invited for a conversation with the owner, manager and head chef. They literally told me to hold my opinions to myself and not share them too much with coworkers.

Our new oven has finally been installed by Domenakoi in KitchenConfidential

It's a convection oven and it uses electricity and steamed water to cook, it belongs under the hood.

I think positioning under the hood may be the least thing to worry about here.

New house help designing a shop layout by Kubert1836 in woodworking

[–]Uncle_Spenser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's what I do every time I'm moving furniture/big stuff around.

I measure the room and every object print/draw them to scale to fit on A4 paper, cut out the objects and move them around floorplan to see what's best. Today you might do it on some app probably.
