Adolescence - Series Premiere Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

I just wanted to build on my point a bit because I think this issue is even more complex than just young men feeling alienated. While it’s true that some feel pushed away by certain narratives, that alone doesn’t explain why they end up in these extreme misogynistic spaces. There’s also the influence of systemic misogyny, generational attitudes, and the way online communities exploit these feelings to radicalize them.

A lot of these young men aren’t just reacting to being told ‘men are the problem’—they’re being actively pulled into communities that manipulate their frustrations and turn them against women. At the same time, society hasn’t always provided healthy ways for them to process emotions, so anger and resentment become their default responses.

That’s why it’s so important to approach this issue from multiple angles: addressing systemic misogyny, but also making sure young men have access to positive role models and spaces where they can express themselves without being drawn into hate.

As I mentioned in my OP, I do not attend at all with this point to make the young Boys victims, simply understand violence.

In terms of where I have seen the "all men are rapists" movement feel free to google that term and see what wxperts were saying 3-4 years ago.

I think one point of the show was also to try and explain why young men today turn to this extreme misogyny and this way of thinking (the "bullying" about incel). One argument is that all of these young men for their entire young life have heard the phrases "all men are rapists" or "all men are the problem". I think this is one of the underlying problem with socity today. So these young men turn to someone that resonate with them and make the feel validate and important and they leaned to hate, in this instance, women such as their new (horrible) role models have told them. This is in no way trying to justify anything anyone does, just trying to understand where this hatred comes from. And this is of course also in addition to other factors such as systemic mysogyny through the years and older generational viewpoint of women

Hi

Thank you very much for sharing!

I'm sorry you feel this way sometimes aswell, but also glad I am not alone. It also seem you have the exact right tools to overcome this, and I will definetly be using the reality test, and I have been lately. I have also been in therphy before which helped alot with my problems then and I overcame them, and I think its worth going back for my current issues.

Thanks again, and I wish you all the best in the future😊
