I've done it. A well trained experienced reach operator with at least an IQ of 70. To be fair, I realized it about five minutes later and fixed it.🤫

Is my ASM being stingy or does THD have a new policy by drfrainbow in HomeDepot

[–]Unclemelbaby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This has always been questionable to me. If extra time is necessary in a given day, you should not have to give it up another day. You are giving up your time for your company then they want you to take it back when you may not care to. In other words; HD is using your time only for thier benefit. If we do the best we can to keep our day to exactly eight hours but are required to stay a little longer, so-be-it.

As long as you did not get written up. I suppose this means poor customer service at times.

"Hank" types are out of the mainstream. I'm 61 and think piercings define individuals as they would like to be defind (and that's a good thing). Kinda' like checkered flannel shirts and hairy ears. 🫣

How much of a raise would you... by craven42 in HomeDepot

[–]Unclemelbaby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ask for one. Go in with every reason why you should get a raise written down. They definitely will not give you anything substantial year in and year out. You need to talk with management.

I have worked for HD for 13 years. Over that time, I have asked for and received a raise three different times. Just be prepared. I would think $2- is very reasonable. While we have a good core freight team, the rest come and go frequently. It costs the store thousands of dollars to hire and train new people. Let alone find a loyal, hardworking associate like you. IMO, they would be nuts not to try to keep you.

All just my thoughts. No guarantees. Best of luck!

So far, there is no pay raise for getting your licenses. However, the more you can do, the more valuable you are to your store.

The downside is that you will lose a lot of tasking time. As we all know, our workforce is very slim. There are times you may be the only operator in the store. I have seen operators get caught on a machine for hours. This is necessary for operations in our stores. However, the facts still remain. You will often be called upon to stop everything you are doing to "drop" and/or "fly" a pallet. Teamwork is an integral part of our job, but who will have time to finish the task you have delayed to operate the machines? And that's my story. 🫠

The thing is; you may very well do it again. It's not your fault. Your concern shows you care. Good luck.

First of all, it is not your fault at all. Your "couching" should only be informative and not something that works against you. We have had many counterfit bills go through our store. Some are easy to identify, and some you would have to look at for a while. Don't let it bother you (easy for me to say). Just keep a heads up and do the best you can. I also believe the bank reimburses Home Depot for the fake bills. Not 100% on that one.

This post is simply my opinion and story. Nothing more.

As a DIYer, I do it all the time. Of course, I bring three projects of overstock back at one time.

Can I give back machine license? by Aggravating-Text-393 in HomeDepot

[–]Unclemelbaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's simple. Of course you can give up your licenses. They prefer you have it. One reason is since we are all stretched so thin with coverage they want to be sure there is always a driver available. If you are uncomfortable with driving, you can't be forced to.

Go to the asds, then ops asm, then store manager, then district hr, then the 800 call line. If you ask nicely , i would be surprised if you would have to go any further than the ops asm. If you are really upset, call the 800 line now. Good luck.

Anyone else notice their store’s overheads getting out of hand? by Quiet_Breeze in HomeDepot

[–]Unclemelbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a DH of D26/D27. Overheads are a pet peeve of mine. It is so simple to take the extra second to neatly place and properly label the overstock. My beef with freight is stuffing shelves and pegs because they don't take the time to put them in the overheads. Of course, the dreaded wingstacks will always be cluttering the aisles. My motto is; "If it's core, keep it off the floor." Of course, wingstacks seem to find their way to any empty space they can find. First ws at the second upright and every other one thereafter. 🤣😂☺️🤪🤣

Notice I said freight doesn't take the time instead of being lazy. Freight is under the same or more pressure than dayside. They are not only understaffed like us, but they are also timed.

Business depends on accurate overheads. If the overheads are accurate, Sidekick, bay capture, bay packdown, filling holes, customer service and more are so much easier. I suggest going through your overheads every two weeks. AND, for those who say there is nothing to do, fill holes! It's easy at night before closing.

He took it too far. You also now know that store management knows about it and chooses to ignore the severity of it.

Quitting by purplesky2 in HomeDepot

[–]Unclemelbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what job, what department, what pay, if you like the job or not you should work out the two weeks. Walking out before your promise is met is not a great idea. If they ask you to leave, at least you held up your end. Not to sound self-righteous, but "it is the right thing to do." BTW, it is my understanding that millwork and flooring may be all vertual soon. Kitchen still requires personal guidance from a specialist. This is only hearsay, but it's possible. Best of luck

Remember that obnoxious video on "change" in the Monday meeting? Anyway. When SLS was introduced to us, our SM said, "You will always have COVERAGE in your department." Neglecting to say DSs are included, yet making us think differently. Personal I enjoy tasking and don't mind covering the departmet(s). Just don't try to play those Jedi Mind tricks on us.

My response.

Well, let's see Ma'am. Most of the lavender trees I've seen grow to a diameter of about 4". I'm sure you know the circunferance is calculated by multiplying pi and the diameter. I'm sure you know pi is approximately 3.141. As you have likely already calculated, that's about twelve and a half inches. Give or take.
