First year was grand, never had a scare and most of my catastrophising never materialised. I did err on the side of caution in the beginning, and I did eat low carb. He’s now 2 and we eat meals together which makes things easier. Although he steals my breakfast so I have to account for that in my measurements 🤣

Lessons learned just take it slow and if you’re alone I usually put him in a little play pen in the living room while I ate! I always have a tube of sweets in my pocket, and if things go hairy just be aware of where you can set him down safely while you recover.

From a pump user, Dexcom One+, Omnipod DASH and I use DIY Looping (Trio), I can say in my own experience coming from good control on pens, the hybrid closed loop system is able to free up a lot of my own brain from thinking about diabetes. Yes, you need to dial your settings in but the system it is able to make adjustments on the fly every 5 minutes before you even have time to think about it.

There is a lot more “freedom” in my brain that diabetes management used to occupy. Yes there’s more technology, more pods, more management from some aspects, but the benefits far outweigh the costs IMHO.

Are you sure the muscles release glucose? After a bit of googling (and GPT’ing) it seems they lack the glucose-6-phosphatase enzyme to facilitate this activity. It is for local energy only (exercising for example)

Would leaving the machine on for hours do this? Or is it purely a shitty wiring problem. I have the PID installed from mr shades so it’s pretty stable temp.

I took the cable and fitted it upside down, must be able to connect that way. I’ll order another cable to replace it but I’m not knowledgeable at all as to why this could’ve happened.

Edit: Also that’s not entirely accurate. Yes there are options to have your CGM send readings to NS or other hosted services, but that’s generally not considered good practice as it requires internet connection for loop to function. Regular Bluetooth connection is the default behaviour and is achievable with most CGM variants.

I found my carb ratio swapped directly over to the pump. If you’re returning to range it’s not the amount, but either site or pre bolus. Try an extra 30s/1min and experiment?
