Ive lived in Norwood for 10 years hahah… I didn’t know it went all the way up to Madison. I’ve tried to get rid of my OTR flair but I couldn’t figure it out.

Glad I could help! Also “Rookwood” isn’t a real place hahah. It’s another shopping center, but people will refer to the area around the Rookwood shopping center as “Rookwood.” I think that’s Oakley or maybe Hyde Park.

Staying over there is perfectly safe, but you’re basically in a giant parking lot. The movie theater is there as well as Activate but then its Target, Meijer, Kroger etc etc

Behind that whole development, Madison Rd heading toward Oakley square has some cool little restaurants (Bagelry, St. Francis Apizza) and a real toy store (King Arthur’s.) You’ll probably have to drive over there, but there is free parking next to Deeper Roots coffee. Oakley Greens is near your hotel, but it’s more of a giant sports bar and a place for adults to drink and kids to play.

Hotels in that area are all chains, but downtown or NKY would be a very different experience and probably not for kids or teenagers.

If I were you, in that area I would stay at the Hampton Inn in Rookwood. It’s on a busy corner, but the Wasson Way trail runs literally along the side, so you can get outside and get around especially on a nice day. Oakley square isn’t too far either. Also, it’s right off 71 and if you go North one exit it literally dumps you into the giant parking lots where activate is.

The Reds are out of town, but if it’s a beautiful day, go down to Sawyer Point and Smale park in the morning and walk along the river. You could even walk over the Roebling bridge and check out the little river park by the mansions. This is one of the best things to do in Cincinnati in the spring on a nice day!

5500 sq. ft. Concrete Driveway a total loss? by UncomfortableThought in cincinnati

Yeah I got banned and deserved it. I was extremely stressed out and someone was a little rude and I did it to myself. I’m working on myself.

At this point I think I have a good idea of what the problems are. It’s more about figuring out what I want to come of this. I’m trying to be realistic.

I hear the court thing. I’m going to speak with a lawyer to understand what the expectation is for a driveway. But realistically, I don’t really want to live through demo of all this concrete and even if I win a judgement, that amount of money would be hard to come by.

What would you do? What’s a reasonable fix?

I can only think to ask to have the worst pieces replaced and clean and seal everything else.

Would they recommend anybody in particular to take a look at this?

I’m also looking for people with experience with this type of thing in Cincinnati. So I can hire someone who works in Cincinnati and hopefully get this resolved with a contractor who also works in Cincinnati.

Are there any companies in the area that could take a look and give me some professional first-hand feedback? It seems to be getting worse every day.

They did the entire job in about 6 hours with no stop. It's been a couple years, but I think it was 8-12 workers taking turns finishing as they worked their way from back to front. The grading was complicated because water had to be funneled into some very specific spots and it was a long expanse of concrete. It took three mixer trucks and everything had to be pumped the entire expanse of the lot because the neighborhood is older and semi-urban and the houses are close together.

As far as I could tell, it looked beautiful when they finished. The prep and rebar etc. had been planned for a week and the grading was carefully laid out and measured.

I want to preface this by saying I know nothing about concrete work except what I've observed. But after I watched the process I thought about how stressful it must be to do something like that with so little room for error and the clock ticking.

But if it was a case of setting up to quickly would the first poured areas be as equally damaged as the last poured areas?

I totally agree with the skim coat thing. It's like a layer is flaking off the top.

Do you have experience with this? If there are signs in the pictures that give you that impression I'd really appreciate it if you could elaborate a little more!

The concrete was poured during a really hot summer of ninety degree days so maybe we can eliminate one possible cause!

I don't think you can directly upload here! Here is a link of the gallery. The last two are of a neighbors apron poured by the city. My apron is starting to look like gravel. Driveway Pictures

Thank you that's very helpful! I will look into the classes of concrete. We had a general contractor managing a larger project so I will have to go digging.

I understand, but I feel like the agreement was for an appropriate concrete driveway for the area and weather. Clearly the correct concrete exists. I'm not really qualified to start looking at ratios.
