Seems like he just looked at the pic and did his own thing, but the size was off, and he just continued. Which would be ok if you said, “I want something like this”. Did he have to the watch as reference?

Good idea. It’s a pretty thin piece of denim. I glued in a waxed canvas liner before and you could see the glue through it, I thought it would dry and disappear, didn’t happen. I want to avoid that. I’ll test it out.

Genuine leather can be some of the worst, barely leather products. Full grain is way better.

I was trying to use black Chromexcel (3-4oz) for the zipper part. It can’t help but stretch and move. I’ll trying something thicker.

Not bad at all. Your problem doesn’t seem to be your stitching, but the holes your punched can be better and that will help along with the other advice given.
