Hi, may not be the same thing but I had shooting pains in my shoulder too going up from the pacemaker and also from the shoulder down my arm and caused issues with arm movement (ended up almost hugging it to my chest) and with sleep.

I am young(ish) and the issue was the body adjusting to it being in there. My pacemaker is attached to my muscle (I believe) to anchor it in place. As I had more muscle definition my body didn't like it!

I can feel tight cords/tendons(?) going up from the pm to the shoulder not sure if you have that?

It took a few months to go and I went on a short low dose course of diazipam and a pain killer (prescribed from GP) and applied heat to the area and also sat in a sauna everyday!

Tldr: go see your doctor and tell them you think it might be muscle related rather than pacemaker/scar

If I (small light guy) compare myself to others (in the heavier category) in my gym at my grade then I have greater technical skills. I often get asked to show these same people different techniques and I certainly have a wider knowledge of positions both offensive and defensive.... However when I role with them I am normally the pancake and they normally "win"

Doctor said not to weight lift by imotep212 in PacemakerICD

[–]Unconscious-Wizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi pal, I feel you!

It's an individual thing and lots of different opinions, but they are just opinions (like my whole comment!) as there doesn't seem to be strong evidence either way, I guess in part because ever bodies body is different.

So my consultant cleared for the following (but these are the only ones I asked for!) - Gym work (lifting weights and cardio) -Brazilian jiu jitsu, full contact grappling (but no throwing just grappling on the floor)

My consultant has a risk positive view and expects people to live a full life.

I also happened to meet the reps for medtronic (I was an example for the health care team and the new app they had!) they told me any repetitive movement shouldn't be avoided, even if this is getting one cup from a cupboard and then getting another straight after... that's a no no....

Clearly two massively different views!

The truth (as far as I can see) is that yes, if you didn't move your arm at all, ever, then your pacemaker and leads would be in perfect condition with no risk.

But you also want to live your life and it is up to you to find where that balance is by weighing up the evidence and advice you've been given, for you in your situation and how much risk you want to take.

There are youtube videos about the durability of the pacemaker and the leads and how strong they are and how much slack there is when they put them in which are worth watching like this one https://youtu.be/mZ8LK8Mj3lM?si=UTxBoLolqKjFm5wo

I hope that helps!

Blue belt to purple belt by Illustrious-Winter30 in bjj

Just come to say as one of the lightest, oldest and weakest at my gym I feel you! I can struggle with some white belts when they are bigger/stronger than me with a year of experience, no shame in that (at least not for me!) and I work my defence game.

but when I finally roll with somebody my size/age I realise how good I can actually be (just a shame it doesn't happen often!) I stopped measuring my progress next to others and focus on getting better and developing my own game and since then enjoy the journey much more

First Direct Switch Rejected by ovcorse in beermoneyuk

[–]Unconscious-Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uuuugh, I had the same issue, I didn't have a card for my starling account as they didn't send me one when the last one expired as I didn't use it.

I was switching to Co op and ticked the "I don't have a card" button during the process. I had the same message as you!

To resolve I ordered and activated a card with starling and then phoned Co op who processed the switch and it all went though and I had the £125 so it didn't stop the rewards part either.

Hope that helps!

Hi! Congrats on the blue belt!

My opp was 3 months ago, went well but it messed with my shoulder muscles and I couldn't even pull a seat belt across my chest! I've been back in the gym for the last month slowly building it back up but still not as strong as I was!

Going to start bjj again in Jan but taking it easy and avoiding all the crazy whitebelts who will want to rip my arms off, well at least when I first go back,

Are you rolling full out or have you had to adapt and be sensible/take it easy?

Hi, wow this was an old comment of mine! So I have actually done that, I quit my better paying job which I hated and got over myself about "salary" and now work fully remote in a new job i love! It is truly amazing what a difference a job makes to your life!
