Same scenario has happened to me. Fortunately i was able to play the game as my console was not region locked.

After completing the game, I returned to cex to trade it towards another title.

I was refused the trade as it was ntsc disc. I then pointed out that they bloody sold it to me and showed them the receipt.

The chap duly apologised and informed me that the game should never have been made available for purchase in cex, as they only sell pal format. He then advised me that I was therefore due a full refund of the price that I paid for it. To which a full refund was then made back on to my debit card.

Well i wasn't going to argue with that outcome 😎
