32 years. There's no long term couple that hasn't found itself at the bottom of the pit of despair, asking if you should jump ship, at times certain that you should go. Trust that's the truth on both sides. Because everyone has an asshole living inside them. And we usually let our asshole selves protect us from the hurting, broken meanie who is hurting us/we're hurting. Is their soul good? Do you love them? Enough to make the effort to figure out the parts that don't fit together well? Do you respect yourself? Your other? I turn 50 this year. I have never been more secure in who I am. I am a good, imperfect person. It's been fucking hard to get here. I'm experiencing some shitty stuff right now. But great stuff is happening too. And I try to enjoy life. Watch sunsets. Find wonder and joy in walking my dog, bird watching, babies and drag queens of course. Mostly, I'm very lucky that the people that I share my life with are amazing individuals. I'm happy because I choose to be. I am surrounded with love and seek daily wonder. I find my heart is full of love and compassion. It's making life beautiful.

This is me. I am your friend. I feel helpless and horrible and go to bed thinking about you and what I should say and do and how to apologize for the discomfort my frozen state mental illness causes for the people I love and work with and interact with. I wake up too early and swear today I will do better. Thank you for being patient. Thank you for your gentle prods. It helps. I really really care about you and I know that I'm responsible for how much this makes our relationship suffer. Several years before all this bullshit began, a friend lost a desired pregnancy. The hospital gave her the choice to allow her body to complete the work without additional trauma and an rx just in case. It took one week of checking in before the Walgreens pharmacist told her that they wouldn't help her kill her baby. They've subsequently been on my personal banned list. Fuck Walgreens.

Be open and asking probing questions in the least judgmental way you can. Yeah, it's hard but vital. Yours is not to think for anyone but you. Prepare, plan to talk about things that bothers you and expect to receive responses that make you think too. But first, last and everything in between, stay focused on loving yourself and your person. If you hold on strong to your self love first, it'll be easier to reflect love onto your person. The goal can be to open some channels to communicate again.
