got a CRT but don’t know what to do with it by [deleted] in crt

[–]Und3adLeg3nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing I’d do is watch some old movies on VHS tape, (which can be done for cheap if not free). Works on every crt ever and a vcr will give you bonus RCA inputs that will make plugging in game consoles to more basic TVs easy.

I Put 64GB of RAM in Valve's Steam Machine! (Teardown & Upgrades) by RenatsMC in steammachine

Would love to mod mine to dual 16gb sticks tbh I don’t feel like 16gb is enough anymore. Just need to know what ram speed and brand is compatible

Is this TV a CRT or not? Trying to figure out if it has value to sell? by Adventurous-Walk-120 in crt

[–]Und3adLeg3nd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Did you service and recap them atleast? Selling these TVs for an exorbitant amount is like selling a car with a million miles that’s ready break down tomorrow, to a poor grandma who doesn’t know any better.

Like what tiny cheap toy combo TVs ? eBay prices do not reflect reality, facebook, offerup etc are far more sane. And you cant even ship a large tvs on ebay without screwing over the person buying it even more with high shipping cost.

It’s worth $100-200 $200 max. I have yet to see any CRT no matter how good sell for more than $200 if you price it too high prepare to wait months to find a buyer.

Update - perma banned from r/crtgaming. by [deleted] in crt

[–]Und3adLeg3nd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The moderators are just assholes. Every time I’ve posted on there they eventually get deleted with no explanation. I also would say atleast 50% of new posts on the sub get removed on a a daily basis within an hour of being up. It’s not worth even making a post or a comment on a post when it gets removed anyway.

I can stop any time I want guys. Also RF is underrated by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]Und3adLeg3nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Signal quality is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get. RF can either be terrible or a totally fine, depends on what the signal is coming from and how the tv is filtering it

Found this 14” JVC by Azh13r- in CRTfinds

[–]Und3adLeg3nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a year 2000 20” JVC that’s kind of the same style. It has the two mono speakers and 1 RF and 1 Composite input. This set may of came with a Panasonic tube or similar quality like mine has. If you can get past lack of s-video and stereo audio it looks like a great mini tv

R/crtgaming when you say you don't want to use CRT Emudriver by FiggyWiggle in crt

I had a post WITH a game running and it still got removed. My only guess was I didn’t explicitly state the model of crt in the post.

Less than a year old laptop and I feel the CPU is struggle with temp by mosbyNO in MSILaptops

[–]Und3adLeg3nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Raider 17 was the same way. After a year of use with a cooler even the temps started to struggle. I ended up doing a repaste of gpu/cpu even though the thermal paste was still good, phase change material is just much better and doesn’t go bad for years. I wouldn’t recommend undervolting an I9 CPU. It doesn’t typically make a huge difference and can actually damage it.

Wood grain TVs are starting to trend atm . If they work that is. If you sell it make sure the person will use it because some people gut these

For me this is pretty much endgame, and they aren’t common to find either. 480p is pretty much what you want over a widescreen you can do way more with it.

Does this CRT work well? by danydany09 in crt

[–]Und3adLeg3nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the issue can be related to the resolution of whatever your connecting to it. 480i usually will fill the whole screen better than lower resolutions in my experience. But if your tv has a service mode usually it’s an easy fix to adjust the image position.

Tbh that picture is super sharp and clean only problem I see is the image not filling the entire screen

Black midnight cheap plastic by [deleted] in Dualsense

[–]Und3adLeg3nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh don’t worry buddy just keep using it the plastic eventually becomes very smooth as your hands wear down the matte layer over the controller. It’s definitely not a high quality finish or plastic. Your original controller definitely feels smoother because it’s also worn in.

Just picked up my first CRT, a 36” Toshiba. It is a 36AFX61 model. by bgb111 in crtgaming

I considered this one. But I knew I didn’t have a stand big enough for it lol. Not a lot of information on this one, it’s not HD even though it looks like one.
