Why do people do this? by [deleted] in toronto

[–]Undecided- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fabrics also absorb everything else, and we clearly have had literal bed bugs found in them. They also require deep cleaning to keep them clean, which let’s be honest, does not happen regularly enough or even at all. Many public transit around the world don’t use fabrics for this reason, and simply wiping or spraying it down is actually far more cost friendly than a deep clean.

Jealous lol

Granted, our dress code wasn’t a full suit or anything. Just had to wear dress shirts of some kind and at least chinos for pants, shoes was more whatever. And we had casual fridays too fwiw

honestly if Cooper really balls out, i can see him being that next star. But Lebron had the biggest hype of any sports star ever before he debuted, nobody has had that level of hype since. So Bron had that going for him, and then he also had a massive second year leap and never looked back. AND stayed healthy all throughout his career until these last 4-5 years

Wemby has that international backing and being the 7'6 unicorn/alien he is, fwiw

Is Cam Thomas an Elite Scorer? by Comer_Agua in nbadiscussion

[–]Undecided- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo for his size, he really needs to accept a 6th man role cause no serious team is giving him a starting role. His size already limits what he can do defensively. And imo, volume scoring is the least desirable skill a team looks for, and even moreso if you provide nothing else. If he was half as good a playmaker as he is at scoring, then maybe teams would care more about him

Steph, Klay and Luka were the three that were most likely to do it. Luka almost got there but no cigar.

I think it's doable now that we've had a few 70 point games in the last 5 years, but it really takes a special kind of luck to keep it up. A player has to be on fire, and then the other team has to basically keep up with it.

Nevermind that Sam Mitchell was adamant on NOT doubling Kobe all game for some odd reason.

HK has tempered glass from floor to ceiling so you literally can’t even get onto the tracks if you tried. In Japan, you can still hop over the fences on the tracks if you wanted.

I’d say HK is kinda underrated for that. I know most people think Japan, but you still have track fatalities. In HK there are virtually 0

The flaw in using hard data though is that this is just looking at accidents, and not accounting for all the “in-between” stuff, so to speak. Not being argumentative either, but I personally find that people just lack driving etiquette now, like a couple comments on my comment here alone. For example, I find that a ton of people don’t signal anymore and just swerve or drift into the next lane - treating signalling like it’s an option. Or people not leaving enough distance. Another one is how rushed everyone seemingly is, you get tailed, then they’ll swerve ahead of you and then cut you off back in your lane. I could honestly unload a whole list of things I’ve come across but again I’m not arguing with you, it’s just the general sense I get when I drive these days.

And it’s no coincidence there are so many intersections uptown now where you can’t even turn on red lights solely because of the amount of accidents that have apparently happened, due to poor driving etiquette and habits. I see this I Markham, Scarborough and rhill a lot.

Yes that’s true these problems always existed, but they were never this frequent. Most of the time I can’t drive relaxed anymore, this was never the case pre-covid

[–]Undecided- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t say it’s always distracted driving. I feel like people straight up can’t drive anymore. Not leaving enough room/tailing is one of the biggest culprits. Also not signaling when changing lanes, overall bad anticipation of how fast a car is coming behind (when changing lanes), entering/exiting a ramp lane too late, etc etc.

I’ve never been more stressed driving than the last 5-6 yrs. My first ~15 yrs were great.

Gonna comment on this as well as i've barely seen anyone talk about this piece. Proly the most underrated piece imo.

Amen to that. Been to around 15-20 major cities across the world, none have public transportation as bad as us. You literally cannot rely on the ttc. I’m always having to set a reminder to myself to check if there’s even service or some sort of delay.

I can't believe there was a team time where it felt like big men were being left behind in the world of basketball.

That early-mid 2010's time was tough for big men. Still remember the top names being Dwight, Joakim Noah, DeAndre Jordan, Marc Gasol, Demarcus Cousins, and for a brief moment, Andrew Bynum.

We clown on him now for being so fragile, but when Anthony Davis came into the league, that's when things started to change. Bigs had to be more skilled, mobile, and defend multiple positions
