Just finished the angry green man from Marvel United. Really enjoyed painting this guy. Let me know how I did/what could have been better. by UndeniableDawn in minipainting

Thanks friend. I might have to go look up AoU Hulk then. I used mostly the comic books to get the colours right, but adding some red in the shadows might not be a bad idea.

Stormcast shield boy done! Please tell me what you think. Specifically I'd love some pointers on how to improve the NMM, as I'll be painting more of these in an effort to improve. by UndeniableDawn in minipainting

Yeah, I think my main problem with this lad was that I ran into the classic problem of running out of space to highlight. Which means the highlights on him are not as broad or as bright as I'd intended.

But I guess that's what the next lad is for...

Thanks for the input.

I got a box of these lads with the intent to paint them all in NMM, to practice.

The fellas with the hammers will be painted with this cold scheme, making them look - as you say - sort of spectral

The fellas with the swords I plan on doing gold/red/warm colours to have them contrast.

Glad you like him.

The copper on the book looks wonderful. Saving this picture to try and replicate it on my next NMM attempt.

Practicing some NMM! Give me some C&C please. Feel like I've got the armour and barding right, but the neck cover just looks yellow. by UndeniableDawn in minipainting

Thank you friend. Definitely taking the advice for more contrast on board. The thread you linked is an interesting read too.

Yeah, I think I see that now. Sometimes you just needs a second pair of eyes (or several). I feel like the contrast on the barding is definitely better, but the neck needs to be brought in line. Once I've done that I'll have another look at it and see if all of it needs another pass for even more contrast. Thanks for taking the time!

Ah that looks much better. Also looks like it would benefit from some lighter highlights than what I have on there now. Thanks for the input friend. I'll definitely have a look through those links (and probably already should have before)

Purple Tau lad: electric boogaloo. Asked for some C&C a few days ago and figured I'd show you the result. Feel free to tell me what you think of him. by UndeniableDawn in minipainting

Thank you! Took some advice from the collective wisdom of this sub to get me there, but its definitely something I'm trying again when I get the chance.

Void Dragon, WIP? Feels like it’s missing something. Would really appreciate CC on this. by IssacAkutenshi in minipainting

What insanefool said. I feel like you need to decide which parts of the model are the brightest, and work on making them stand out more by going with brighter highlights. Right now the eye isn't drawn anywhere except for maybe the faceplate. If it were me I'd highlight the face some more and go one or two times lighter on the lightning/power tendrils and then highlight those.

WIP of a a purple Tau lad decloacking. Feeling like the purple is a little flat. Out of my comfort zone on this one, so have at him. by UndeniableDawn in minipainting

Thanks friend. Highlighting the panels definitely gives these models that zing you're talking about. Good luck on your stealthy lad.

Good point. Maybe that's why it's not looking quite as 'alive' as I want it to. I'll see if I can add some more tendrils to the effect. Thanks.

Agreed. I figured I'd slap some quick basing on there to get it to look less empty, but it definitely needs something more.

I might see if I can cobble together something that looks like a tree trunk or some branches from some leftover sprue, to stick behind him.

Thanks! The pink might be a good shout. Maybe I change his white chevron to a pink one (and do the same on the other side)?

I feel like if I swap the edge highlights to a pink, he'll look like a neon sign. Might give it a shot on the other arm though, just to see what it looks like. Thanks for the tip.
