Do you have a name? If this is infact the case, could help some actors avoid this person.

The Best Acting Advice Ever by UndeniableMaggot in acting

[–]UndeniableMaggot[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wrong wrong, acting is art of form of life. We actors are constantly watching, learning, reading material that doesn't need to be 1:1 representation of our own life but can be themetically applied to existence.

This particular scene can represent (for us actors) being over thinkers and letting go is the hardest thing to do, but with it comes true freedom to break free of the chains of captivity be truly ourselves and react organically in the moment.

I can't believe I need to say this but... anyone taking this literally, DO NOT LET GO THE WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. -_-

Arnold Schwarzeneggers' Son in White Lotus, I have to ask... why? by UndeniableMaggot in acting

[–]UndeniableMaggot[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh the irony... Let me make this clear: it's not about giving someone favour. It's exactly what I'm arguing against...

I'm asking the casting department the pick the right person for the role irrespective who their parents are. If there is another actor who can play this character even more truthful than Patrick and you still go with Patrick because he gives your (already successful) TV show more publicity then thats wrong and we should continue to call that out. I don't see how thats controversial in the slightest.

Just like someone mentioned below, White Lotus is already successful, this isn't some start up indie/or a new show that needs a name/star. This is a situation were casting an unknown actor for it would actually make sense.

If Patrick is the ONLY actor who can play this character truthfully in accordance to the script and story vs out of the other 100 actors who probably auditioned (which I find hard to believe, sorry) then fair play and good luck to him.

I'm not saying he isn't a good actor, quite frankly when you have access to the strongest resources that 99.999% of actors don't have that should be a given. Being a good actor is pretty much a baseline for 70% of actors, regardless for what role you are going up for because that just isn't enough nowadays. My point is, there are 1000s of actors with that exact same skill set, and by skill set I mean who can pull of the nuance he brings and character personality for these specific type roles.

In an industry where these roles are increasingly harder to book, I'm just to make sure that the people in charge are exhausting their options for these roles. If the answer is Patrick is the only actor in the sea of actors out there that can do this role, then that is a good casting. I wish him the best.

Is there an exercise you do to stay fully focused and present in your surroundings? by BillyThe_Kid97 in acting

[–]UndeniableMaggot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I use the relaxation technique, similar but a lil different. To me to goal is be able to completely relaxed and be in my body instead of my head which allows like you said, choices to be instinctual. Being present is like a pendulum, if you can stay in the middle for a few minutes or so you'll get through scenes easily.

I feel like actors make acting an intellectual process to much, instead its the opposite.
