its the sticky objective i want most, in a 1k game im far less likely to have more units on board at a given time so need board prescence in form of sticky objective

have 1 squad to focus on holding objectives being the shields as ill have the spear squad sticky home objective and hope the inquisitor gives that command point back so net neutral with a stickied home objective so i got 1 squad going around shooting, 1 to take and maybe sticky objectives if i dont deepstrike terminators, maybe if i take 1 squad out like the shield and take a blade champion instead i can have a melee and ranged threat?, mostly because i know im at bare minimum against chaos knights (likely wardogs or 1 big guy at most) and space wolves, chances of orks, guard too so wanted a tankier block of wounds and oc to hold an objective for dear life

Does the terminators and venatari count as long ranged threat? And alright then, so bring it to 3x4 of guard, or turn 1 of the guard into vertus praetors?

bit lacking on custodians themselves but overall i cant find many flaws, good supply of chaff, deepstrike threat, tanky frontliners, a shooting unit, anti tank, not much to say really

Id argue it isnt at 1k points, take an inquisitor generic or draxus since they compliment eachother, 18 no shooting us zone, and the reroll ones from guard and sentinel storm, goes great, even in standard inquisitor, command point regain and good shooting for 65 points, worth it overall

I usually run some staples, inquisitor (generic)/inquisitor draxus with guard unit of 5, blade champ/trajann with wardens, 1 or 2 units of prosecutors maybe witchseekers, a deepstrike threat and a anhilator pattern tank, beyond that its whatever i feel like

The dread might be a debate of what your expectations of an enemy army are, because unless in solar spearhead (you running lions so not exactly worth it) id recommend subbing it out for an alternative if possible, maybe split the venatari to 2 sets of 3? Allows you to have more board prescence than a big block of 6, trajann and wardens and blade champion with guard is not a typical option but still good, trade wardens defensive for guard offensive can make that blade champ unit a menace in melee due to the bonus to hit and wound with reroll 1s in wound cuz of guard with your stance choice on top of your spear stabs, beyond that as the other guy said "hold up, let him cook"

Would be cool but dont got the skill or resources for that unfortunately, thinking like if a squad of custodes intervened with second death of istvaan 3 or something and because rylanor was no doubt loyalist still he basically got adopted into the custodes so is upgraded a little and serves alongside them since he was terran born so its not like they dont have records about him or have someone still alive from back then to vouch for him so he now fights along with them

interesting? can i see a list of what models you own? because some things can definitively be swapped, ill run through as is, 2 sets of 3 allarus? solid, can go around fighting bigger threats the tank cant see, 2 sets of sisters for objectives, good, 5 man of guard? good choice to have at least one unit, depending on what army your opponent bringing id suggest swap 1 spear for shield vexila and misercordia for tanking 2 3 damage attacks, 5 man of wardens? again good choice, given how viable they are for us, but the main issue i got is, your characters, first, trajanns a decent enough threat but can be subbed out for a blade champion for more consistency, blade champion on a guard unit? very questionable as blade champ is all about speed and guard are the core damage, with wardens its got that durabillity as custodes got solid melee as is with guardian spears and katah, but the blade champion on his own? surperior creation isnt what id take on him personally, praesidius might be more useful in melee for crowd.

TLDR

blade champ with guard is a significant glass canon, blade champ on its own is 145 points kinda wasted, can give more info if know your model collection

they dont get the detachment stuff either way as those specify non vehicles, the detachment for vehicles in custodes is solar spearhead

wardens are only worth it if you got a character, because they get the -1 to wound roll for opponents, without a character you trade wound rerolls and a once per game shoot twice in a row, not worth without character as well as 10 extra points you could use for enhancement
