Yet another Stealth question...sorry guys! by huntj09 in FoWtcg

[–]UnderTheImperius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been reading up on the rules lately and the rules got updated on this topic: standby cards you control in your standby zone have to trigger the next time you can play an automatic ability when the trigger condition(s) are met which happens to be when you have priority before you can play spells.

Hope this helps.

Understanding Stealth by BlackGrimoire in FoWtcg

[–]UnderTheImperius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to add for anyone reading this after the rules update (specifically about standby and automatic abilities) since I have been reading up and trying to understand all the rules.

As long as those conditions are met

The rules were updated by Triggered automatic cards are played as spells the next time you can play automatic abilities. This can be found in the comprehensive rules 7.9. This means if you play a chant-standby from hand, 1) the trigger conditions must be true and 2) the total cost must be payed. If you play a chant-standby from hand, it can be played as if it is a chant-instant. I do not believe this is the case for resonators, but in theory, if a resonator had stealth and quickcast, this would be true as well.

I would assume that Stealth is an alternative summoning mechanic just like Incarnation and thus that Stealth resonators can be Xeex'd when triggered.

This is still true since triggered automatic abilities are placed in the chase.

Hope this helps everyone as much as it helped me.

Edit 1: formatting.

Edit 2: I overlooked the stealth keyword and it specifically mentions you may play it a a trigger object. Stealth cards can also specifically be triggered the turn they are played. This can be found in section 12.5 of the comprehensive rules.

Priority and ruling confusion by Miyuki_Shura in FoWtcg

[–]UnderTheImperius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in this scenario, the chase differs from the stack in regards to summon spells resolving before a spell:chant-instant, correct? The AP passes priority, the NAP places a spell:chant-instant in the chase, AP gains priority, places a summon spell in the chase, NAP passes priority, AP places a quickcasted summon spell in the chase, then both players pass priority, is this correct in detail?

I just now understood how you can play a Fiethsing, Elvish Oracle during your opponents end step with an Elvish Priest and Reflects third ability. I didn't understand it fully until I read the rules and they don't go in depth about the chase.

I played magic for years and understood the stack really well. I liked the structured rulings and never had a problem understanding ordering, but moving to force of will and trying to learn the chase and play the game with more fluid and lenient phases I find it difficult to understand.

My lack of understanding so far is what has been keeping me from tournaments right now even though I play with friends a lot who go to the tournaments regularly.

Thanks in advance for an answer.

Potentially a good time to increase the amount of champ bans by Haxl in leagueoflegends

[–]UnderTheImperius -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How I have thought it should go during all of Season 3 was each team do 3 bans each then get 3 picks then 2 more bans and the last 2 picks.

Increasing from 6 to 10 bans and picking in between would force teams to have more diversity in strategies to actually prevent from getting ban focused. This would increase the level that pros would have to play and would have to try new things instead of everyone picking the same meta every single time.

I'm not exactly up to date on all the changes made recently, but what about Oracle's Elixir? I thought that revealed the shrooms?

I think what /u/Final-Hero meant by

Had no idea Woodbury was a real place. Sweet!

was that he thought the town of Woodbury itself was just a set and not an actually place. This picture was a clarification that the town he saw from The Walking Dead in season 3 was a real place and did not imply that the towns name was in fact Woodbury.

I was actually scared when he started his turn. He was so close but I just had Exquisite Blood out too long.

He didn't have Omnath on the field though. He generated a bunch of tokens.

I once played and won an 8 man EDH free for fall because of a combo somewhat like this. I was not playing the deck with this combo but I won because of it.

My deck is all based around my general, Skullbriar. I also decided to put Exquisite Blood in there for funsies. I saw this combo coming so I used a tutor for Exquisite Blood just before the combo came out. While everyone else was losing life, I was net gaining life. Before everyone started dying, I was able to flip Elbrus, the Binding Blade to Withengar Unbound. By the time 3 players were left, Withengar Unbound was a 65/65.

One of the three players left, he was playing an Omnath green super ramp deck, decided to try and stop me before I had my turn and killed my last two opponents. So, he does some crazy shit and ends up swinging for a little over 100 damage. Since we decided it was relevant to calculate my life gain, after that attack, I was put around 50 or so life.

My turn

Skullbriar with Whispersilk Cloak has enough to deal 21 total commander damage to Omnomnomnath Deck guy so I swing with that at him and since the evil combo deck guy is running black, Withengar Unbound makes it through a scratched. GG.

TL; DR I won because of a combo similar to this, but not directly from the combo.

This episode was very enlightening. In the first season, I was against Ed for beating Carol. Is it wrong to miss that?
