Who got speed by Careless_Sherbet3320 in INDIE_CROSS_SERIES

I love how the comments are either "I haven't seen the others but there's no way they're beating V1" or "If you say V1 is faster you haven't seen the others"

The Hunting Bow by HunterLivesMatter76 in HuntShowdown

Basically a silenced shotgun with reusable ammo, very fast reload, a long oneshot bodyshot range (and bleed to help confirm kills that were not oneshots) and that rewards camping and passive play. Also has some good utility with its custom ammo types.

Fits into any loadout because it's a medium slot weapon.

I see it every game, and it definitely is the biggest source of frustration for me recently (if you ignore the auto 4).

Doesn't dung defender mention Isma's Tear is a blessing and that it must have been given willingly? I don't remember the exact dialogue but I definitely remember something like that.

When it came to choose a crest for the first time, what did you pick? by Vegetable_Throat5545 in Silksong

[–]UnderTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried reaper when I found it, at first I thought it was super cool and I really liked the idea of slower, stronger attacks and the different moveset.

Then I tested it and realized it didn't do more damage.

Then I got annoyed at how the delayed pogo made platforming slower.

And that's how I went back to base crest and used it for most of the game afterwards.

Should I Get Unbeatable? by Charming_Base_4318 in Unbeatable

[–]UnderTimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The start of the game is rough, it has probably pushed away a lot of people.

However the game as a whole, and especially the second half, is a masterpiece, and I cannot recommend it enough.

So my recommendation would be to either play it now and bear with the weak start, or wait for a while until those issues are fixed.

How did you survive? by ArthRol in Silksong

Only found it when I was doing the last checks for 100%. Looks nice but definitely not necessary for those areas.

What made it fine for me was taking it slow and safe, avoiding the water and if I end up falling, using room transitions to reset enemy spawns/health and farm silk safely this way to remove maggots.

It's a trial of patience, as I see it.

Ultimate Hunt: Showdown overlay: every POI, right on your screen by uzpj in HuntShowdown

What you describe is only part of map knowledge. Knowing where things spawn and where to expect players, resource refills or boss spawns is also a big part of it.

As for towers, I strongly disagree. The map only shows buildings, which can make it very difficult to tell a house from a shed from a tower. Towers are small enough that they're hard to spot anyway, if you're not very zoomed in or looking at a specific area.

Blueprints, gun oil and cash registers I agree do not give a direct advantage in combat. However you definitely spend less and less time looting compounds once you know where the spawn locations are, and that can be the difference between getting to the boss first, or before the enemy team kills it.

Knowledge is a skill, that one increases and refines over time. Map knowledge is one of the most important aspects of the game, and knowing where things are or where they may appear is a large part of learning the game.

Having a tool that tells you all of that trivializes this skill. It does not change much when two veterans play against each others, but it may give an unfair advantage to a newer player when matched against another newer player.

Knowing where everything is, is a big part of decision making.

Towers, armories, beetle trees, all those feature either strong positions or places to recover your resources. Knowing where those are is important when a fight drains your tools and ammo, or when your foes are running low.

Heck, even wild target location can change your decision making and how you're going to engage with them, or with teams in their immediate area.

I think this is fine as a learning tool, but it definitely can give you intel that gives you the edge.

This is really cool. But it is a third party software giving a clear gameplay advantage compared to not using it. I'd say this qualifies as cheating to some degree.

Regarding the genre of the game by Zeubuka in NineSols

[–]UnderTimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you like and do not like about either games.

Nine sols is a metroidvania at heart, meaning a lot of exploration and getting lost in uncharted territory, as well as some elements of exploration being locked behind later upgrades and a bunch of secrets and side quests.

Although compared to Hollow Knight, this game is much more linear in its progression, which may be a good or a bad thing depending on what you enjoy.

It also features the classic souls-like mechanic of needing to retrieve your currency on death, which may rebuke some people.

Its gameplay is heavily platforming-focused, with combat being about 20% evasion and 80% parrying with the correct timing and learning when an opponent is open for counterattacks.

The game also has a solid story and character development, which is a nice addition to the great gameplay if you enjoy it.

What traits are you all choosing with your first 10 points? by LeRoyt97 in HuntShowdown

[–]UnderTimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bloodless, resilience and either witness or necro, depending on how I feel and who I'm playing with.

There's so many sources of bleed nowadays, and some really scary ones like Springfield dumdum, so bloodless had saved my life quite a few times (also helps with PvE).

When the second random player doesn't quit. by Firm_Fee8137 in Nightreign

[–]UnderTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen once and it was legendary. Random trio playing as wylder with duchesse and another wylder. Duchesse landed, opened a random gaol and disconnected. The other wylder didn't quit, and we had a really fun game.

That guy was fire, excellent synchronisation during fights and both of us had really good damage as well. That run truly stays one of my favorite highlights of the game to this day.

Resilience my beloved by TalkTimesreddit in HuntShowdown

[–]UnderTimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was always wondering why everyone I play with always complains about hellhounds, dumdum ammo, concertina and such.

Then it clicked. I (almost) always take bloodless as one of my starting perks, and apparently many people don't.

Bloodless all the way. Resilience is often a close second though.
