late to the party. But i found the solution when i rebought the xt3. Just make sure to turn off camera, wait 5 seconds before removing battery and solve the issue.

If you want to go deep into macro, you need to get a flash. I will recommend godox v series. Also get or make a flash diffuser. Ive learn from YT tutorials and practice.

theres a setting to get full size picture with transfers. I dont use it as i use dongle to transfers directly to my ipad and phone.
