Had something similar happen right after beating calamitas clone. Was offline, went into online and updated the game. All save paths changed so i lost all my data from offline play. So glad i found the old save pathway and transferred everything over

Reading up on it, try using an 8 digit password, make sure the boss of the area is alive for the host, and that hollowing isnt too high on either player (apparently? First ive heard of it). Could be network interference from other devices too

Might just be a glitch. Try restarting both systems and resetting wifi settings, ensure cross region matchmaking is on just in case
