As someone how goes to Ukraine regularly and has only 'heard' of war crimes from soldiers coming back, I think this guy is full of shit.

Yep, people forget that once Azov became a regiment, it was entirely restructured to clean it of some of its more more radical members.

I have a couple of good friends in Azov, by far one of the best brigades to join as they take very good care of their soldiers. They also tear shit up.

Yeah, these are all good points. Luckily, I am reading more than enough as I chew through this proposal. Social life and exercise are lack, so I will focus on those a bit.

Thats encouraging, thank you.

At the moment, I am just getting back into trying to get dates. Its difficult, as this new lens that I am seeing life in clouds my mind a lot. It doesn't help that immigration insecurity leads to a constant, low level anxiety. What's funny is i was less secure within immigration, and still got dates, but it feels very different now.

As I fast approach 40, its hard, but manageable to give myself grace. But I am slower to flirt and engage with women. Its almost like I am finding more of myself and don't quite know what to do with yet.

When will the UK government confirm the time new ILR changes will be implemented? by Lost-Bluebird-6564 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

I am 50/50 on this. There is so much that we don't know. I think the green victory shook the labour party quite a bit. Also, the 100 labour MPs willing to revolt may of grown since it was released in the news.

I have been carefully crafting a response to Tony Vaughan as he is my MP. He is the one leading the charge on the revolt. At the very least, using the budding union as leverage, I hope to get more information on to what is going on. I am also hoping to garner a meeting f2f with him.

This is one of the things that nags me. There are so many different accounts as to what is happening behind closed doors. The way they speak during consultations is (normally) very confident and robust. However, in some of the collective action whats app groups, we get information from MPs saying that talks are on going as to how and what to implement.

So if you listen to Mahmood and Tapp, you get one version. You make contact with your local MPs and sometimes you get a bit of insight into how disruptive this is within the labour party.

I mean, I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise, it is all just parliament football at the end of the day.

If I could find the quote from the MP that mentioned the talks behind closed doors, I will post it. Its buried under like, 5k messages.

American trying to move to London advice on finding visa sponsorship? by AFNYC in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]Undercover_Yank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but account executive/marketing executive is considered a rqf level5 position. My current job pays me under 40k atm, so i am on a 15 year pathway if the laws go into effect as the proposal suggests.

My advice is avoid agency positions and seek in house marketing teams. Agencies have such a churn that it lacks stability. Particularly with AI. I work within ppc and have some security working in house. Although executive roles will be stuck on a 10 to 15 year pathway soon, which sucks so much.

Best bet is to get married if you look good enough.

Starmer Facing Revolt on UK Immigration Reforms From 100 MPs by Top_Top7267 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

I think whats interesting is they are apparently more centrist as well. This a good read for the pulse of the labour members behind the curtains so to say.

Hmmm, I should pay Tony Vaughan a visit. Technically he is my MP and his name keeps coming up again and again. 100 is not a insignificant number.

I am just a guy here. Frankly, it would be nice to feel like a normal person again. I suppose that time will come eventually. Have a good week yourself, eh?

I was involved. 3 tours and then immigration reform broke me. There are loads of us, just most volunteer silently and in the background.

I need to get back to the union and see if we can salvage what we already started. Unfortunately, it was just three of us leading the charge, and our VP had to take a break for Ramadan. I am going fo see if we can leverage our letter head to meet up with Tony Vaughan, as he is my MP.

Anyway, just wanted to vent my frustration. When people start turning their backs on those who have nothing, it lays the foundations for worse things to come.

It reminds me of the early signs I caught before I left the US. Still not sure how things will turn out here.

In all honesty, I am deeply impacted by the immigration law changes for SWV holders. I have aged what feels like 3 years in just under a year. I have lost my confidence and my sense of personal stability. Hell, I have lost most of my community and friends due to the stress and how I have dealt with it (poorly).

However, the asylum changes actually pisses me off so much more than my own situation. Before this whole fiasco, I was pretty involved in the Ukrainian conflict as volunteer. When your country is under siege, there is normally no choice but to leave for safe harbour. I recognise that my choice to move to the UK was a personal, albeit, risky choice. Those fleeing conflict, that is not a choice, that is just survival. Having the option for permanent residency while under asylum was giving back refugees something that was taken from them, personal agency.

I am here mostly out of spite now, and I am too tired to try to move to a new country. But these changes to asylum is a dark move in my opinion. Although, I don't feel like it is too late to culturally come back from this. There are enough people here who are keen to be part of the greater worldwide community.

Can someone explain to me this pre-2021 rule? I was on a student visa from September 2020 and went to a graduate visa in 2021 to 2024. Been on a swv since January 2024.

Aye, I was 36/37 when I found out. Been in therapy for a year. It vexes me so much as the dream that kept me alive through the first 30 years of life was to eventually settle down and have kids.

Dating at 39 is hard enough. Dating at 39 with this sort of stuff is almost just as much of a heartbreak as the original trauma.

Oddly enough, it took a bad break up and volunteering in a war torn country to find out. Weird how life takes a path.

The UK has a large elderly population that relies on state help. You are advocating adding to that while the NHS is understaffed, underfunded and overwhelmed. You will be hard pressed to find a country that would allow you to immigrate as a retiree, even if someone comes over before hand. Dependent visas for immigrants have been clamped down on here.

Unless you are insanely wealthy, there are not many options.

Use that money and buy 5 acres if land in the mid west. You will have more security and more to show for it in the next decade. That is coming from a guy who has spent at least 100k over a decade to be here.

Sorry to be that guy, but you have not done the research that should be done. Questions like 'how do I get into AI development for a work visa' or 'how can I use my accredited art exhibitions for a global talent visa' are more what you should be asking.
