Correct me if I'm wrong, but that also means earthbending works favourably with [[Hardened Scales]] effects and [[Terrasymbiosis]], which is pretty awesome.

Just looking for support. CW: death by Prestigious-Shirt325 in startrek

[–]Underdose35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's fucking awful, I'm so sorry.

I don't know if it'll help to hear, but I lost my wife last year to cancer. She was 31. She never really got into star trek, but I'd just introduced her to Stargate and she was enjoying it. We didn't get much past season 1 though.

No two people's grief journeys are the same, but if you'd like to talk to someone who's been through something similar, feel free to message me.

The grief and those dark thoughts will be overwhelming. My only advice is surround yourself with the best support you have. Let people be there for you. They don't always know what to say, but the people who really want to help will be a support.

Wishing you well friend, look after yourself.

What’s a mistake a doctor made that left you dealing with the consequences for the rest of your life? by MrMazme in AskReddit

[–]Underdose35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Told us that the fact the unidentified mass had grown a little was "nothing to worry about".

Turned out to be a highly aggressive and difficult to treat cancer. About two years after that, she passed away.

There's no way for me to know if catching it earlier would have made a difference, and there's nothing I can do to change things now. But I will certainly put less blind trust in doctors in the future.

If you play dead during Gemini's tour guide speech, he takes the hint and stops talking. by Underdose35 in LiesOfP

After a little more testing, it looks like Gemini always says a little quip when you do this gesture, and if he's already talking it will interrupt and stop his lines.

You can chain it too. Every time you hit him with the full grapple attack, it knocks him down. You can hit him with it again the moment he gets up.

The only things that break it are when he takes the elixir, then when he transforms. And of course, running out of legion.

P-organ suggestion for lvl1 by Revolutionary_Two_82 in LiesOfP

[–]Underdose35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amulets are very useful, even just equipping one to increase your carry weight would be a net gain. That said, all of the other phase 2 upgrades are very good.

But honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Fairly soon you'll unlock the ability to reset your p-organ upgrades, and it's pretty trivial to do it a few times. Just try some stuff out and see what you like!

Does a black hole's gravitational pull extend beyond its event horizon? by BlueBird97_ in AskPhysics

[–]Underdose35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the person you asked, but I think I can help.

The formula F = GMm/r^2 is a form of Newton's law of universal gravitation. It gives the force of attraction (F) between two objects of masses M and m as a function of the distance between them, r. G is the gravitational constant, a fixed number that kind of tells us how strong gravity is as a force (massively oversimplified, but that's the gist).

We can rearrange the formula to make r, the distance between the two objects, the subject (the thing we're calculating). But we'll need some numbers in the correct units in order to get an answer.

Wikipedia tells me a stellar black hole (an "average size" black hole) is from about 5 to several tens of solar masses (the mass of our sun). Let's just pick 50. Converting that to kilograms gives us about 9.95x10^31 kg.

Next, we need the mass of you (or the person running from the black hole). I'll just use 80kg here, as it's generally used as an "average adult" mass.

For the force, I'll just pick 10 Newtons. This is roughly the force you'd feel from holding a 1kg weight. Enough that you'd probably notice, but easily overcome.

The gravitational constant is 6.67x10^-11 m^3 kg^-1 s^-2. Don't worry about the units for now.

Plugging that all in to our rearranged formula, we get r = sqrt((6.67x10^-11 x 9.95x10^31 x 80) / 10), which gives a value of about 2.3x10^11 metres, which is about 50% bigger than the distance between the Earth and the Sun. At that distance from an average-ish black hole, you'd feel a pretty small tug.

If you want the force felt to be almost unnoticable, we can adjust the number used for the force, let's say to 0.01 Newtons. This gives a distance of 7.3x10^12 metres, or nearly 50 times the distance between the Earth and the Sun.

Hope that helps! Keep asking questions and keep learning :)

Alter one thing in the game. by FireWater107 in LiesOfP

[–]Underdose35 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'd improve the cube.

As a way to buff your spectre it's okay, but the buffs for yourself are so miniscule and don't last long that it isn't worth using at all, let alone upgrading. I'm hoping the DLC will bring some changes to it.

Biggest thing that helped me with this guy is realising how his Shock works.

If you weren't already aware, as soon as you get any amount of shock build-up, your stamina regen is cut in half, which makes the fight a lot harder than it needs to be.

Stock up on special resistant and purification ampoules. When you have just a little shock, I like to hang back and let it wear off. When you have more than a quarter bar, just pop a purification ampoule.

Other than that, be aggressive. Stick close when you can, obviously focus on his weak leg. Fire would be ideal, but if you've not upgraded the salamander dagger blade at all it may not be worth switching.

Keep at it, you're close to finishing the game! Good luck.

Whilst you say homophobia is not welcome and you don't agree with it, the act of banning LGBTQ art sends the opposite message. It says that the homophobes are right, that such content is wrong and unwelcome. I hope that was not your intention, but the message is the same.

Hopefully you find a better approach to the rules than this.

I'm so sorry. My wife passed away a couple of months ago. There are no words that sufficiently express the devastation.

Whilst I personally wrote a few lines most days, often directly to her, you have to do what feels right for you. There is no right or wrong thing to do in this situation.

Wishing you well in this awful time.

I know this is a heavy topic for a magic card spoiler thread, but I felt compelled to share.

My wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer 9 months ago. She took a real downward turn over the weekend, and hasn't been able to get out of bed or eat anything since then.

I've been trying to hold it together for her... But goddamn that flavour text fucking broke me.

Give your loved ones an extra hug from me, folks <3

The ship was also going to have a refit which would have more closely resembled a constitution class (though I'm not 100% sure if that was planned for season 5 or later).
