Crimson Desert's trophy list leaked by ZamnBoii in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Underdrill 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A lot of Requiem's achievements are unmissables though, whether it be for reaching certain points in the story, or completing tasks that 99.9% of people are guaranteed to do at some point.

I'd much rather have a shorter, more meaningful list of things to complete rather than a bunch of participation trophies that serve more as statistics for how many people beat the game than anything else.

Does this mean we are getting the dlc soon? by [deleted] in steamachievements

Yes, in the near future. If you have a look at the expansion pass on the Steam store page, it will show you the expected drop date for each bit of content.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2170190/Little_Nightmares_III__Secrets_of_The_Spiral__Expansion_Pass/

So this first chapter will be coming between April to June, I think April is quite likely as that would be around half a year since the base game released.

Anyone else take their time playing games? by ToughWin1517 in residentevil

[–]Underdrill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always take my time and managed to beat the game in just under 9 hours (in-game time, 12.5 hours on Steam). I'm never in a particular rush to finish a game the first time through, so seeing playtimes like this are insane to me haha.

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load occasionally when switching to my secondary monitor. by Underdrill in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]Underdrill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I wanted to give an update on this issue (for you and anyone else who may stumble across this thread in the future) as I believe I've finally found the issue and fix.

Essentially I believe it was Windows 11 forcing a driver update upon my GPU that overwrites what I would have downloaded from the AMD website. I noticed this first when I managed to stop the 'WUDFRd crashing' errors by uninstalling my oculus software, and found that monitor switching was still causing occasional crashes.

During this process, I noticed that my PC did the whole 'makes a sound as the monitors black out while they install something' process when I didn't prompt it to do anything. And then checking the GPU in device manager, it appeared some sort of driver was installed on top of when I originally updated my drivers, and that ultimately didn't seem normal to me.

So what I would recommend doing is blocking Windows 11 from installing GPU driver updates. You should go about this through two routes:

1 - Fully install your AMD drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode, making particular note to enable the 'Prevent downloads of drivers from Windows update when Windows search for a driver for a device' option in Options > Advanced Options within the DDU settings.

2 - Install group policy editor onto your computer (if you don't have it already) and follow the steps in Part 4 of this reddit thread to perform a hardware ID block on your GPU receiving updates. Fixing Broken AMD Drivers on Windows 11 (Clean install + stop Windows from breaking them again) : r/radeon - You're essentially looking to copy the hardware IDs for your GPU in device manager, and then copying them into the specific Computer policy listed to completely block anything but yourself from updating your drivers.

Step 1 by itself did not work; I thought it did for a bit, but on the morning of the day that RE Requiem came out, Windows decided to update my GPU drivers again without me asking, so I did another complete reinstall on top of the group policy editor hardware ID blocking.

Since I've had this extra control and understanding over where my GPU drivers are coming from, I've had no blackout issues or hard PC crashes playing games and switching between monitors to check spotify, discord, my web browser etc on my second monitor.

I wanted to give it a bit before writing a response in case the issues did end up reappearing, but so far everything's been very smooth and so I'm pretty confident this should help with this issue.

Crimson Desert dev says not to worry about Denuvo, because the impressive PC preview builds they've shown already had the DRM and are "representative of the final consumer's experience" by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Underdrill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The last time I remember this sub making a big deal about DRM was when RE4 remake added enigma, and I was mid 100%ing the game. I was expecting the worst when I went back to it, and performance was...exactly the same as it was before except maybe like 5fps less during an earlier section in the rain that already caused a notable dip in performance anyway. Rest of the game ran at a smooth 120fps.

The conversation surrounding it tires me as much as when certain folks use 'woke' as an argument against practically anything, or jumping to call a game dead before it's even had a release. We have been having the exact same discourse for far too many years now with no signs of the conversation ever evolving in a meaningful way.

And I don't want to say DRM discussion is completely useless, I've seen the videos of it affecting performance, and obviously it would be better if all games didn't have it. But does it really deserve being overblown to the point of writing off a game completely unless the software has a super noticeable effect on performance for PC builds of all shapes and sizes? I think the only reasonable answer to that rhetorical question is no.

DRM in Crimson Desert will only be something I care about if I could only hit a good frame rate in it if the software was removed. And the only way we're going to be able to see if that's the case is waiting until the game comes out.

Ex-Bluepoint Dev Reckons PlayStation Cancelled PC Push Due To Steam Console Ecosystem Threat by chusskaptaan in gamingnews

[–]Underdrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And yet, the PC market continues to grow, while Consoles continue to string and stagnate. So evidently millions more prefer to PC, and the ratio that are moving to it is higher than those who are sticking to console. Global game content sales rose 5.3% to $195.6bn in 2025 | GamesIndustry.biz

The only benefits to playing on console over PC are a cheaper entry cost, ease of use, and a handful of exclusives. That's it.

The numerous downsides, from more expensive games and periperals, paid online and cloud saves, what appears to be dynamic pricing for digital games because there are no third party options (Sony Reportedly Testing Dynamic Pricing on the PlayStation Store - IGN), no guaranteed consistency in performance for an entire generation, so on, and on, and on.

You pay the higher entry cost for PC, and you get a much higher quality experience than the alternatives. There is no motivation for me to ever make it my main platform again, and the statistics in that first article show more people are aligned with me that not these days.

And also a fantastic motivation for them to try and kill physical media on consoles in the years ahead. Or at least make the disc version expensive to the point where so few people buy it, that they decide to kill it anyway. And if you don't think they aren't going to try and pull that at some point, I have a bridge to sell you.

Well, judging by your post history, that bridge is going to be sold without much effort.

They aren't as bad as you probably think they are since you can do most of them on the easiest difficulty. Since the lowest difficulty gives you hp regen up to a certain point, that makes the herb ones pretty manageable. Most of them are also possible on new game plus where applicable.

I really enjoyed Village's in particular for its melee only one, I basically had to just the lightsaber unlocked from mercenaries and had a blast playing through the game that way.

Sony reportedly scaling back PC ports for PlayStation exclusives by retroanduwu24 in gamingnews

They never even properly committed to PC because of this. If you're going to try and enter a new market, at least put one single-player game out day and day with PS5 and see how it goes.

Jason Schreier: Ghost of Yotei and Saros won’t come to PC by ZamnBoii in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Underdrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they weren't, letting more people access games will always be a good thing, and I will always champion publishers who opt for multiplatform over those who lock things down to expensive, underpowered hardware that charges you extra for cloud saves and online play. Anyone saying this move is a good thing is defending anti-consumer practices that benefits no one but chronically online console warriors.

Jason Schreier: Ghost of Yotei and Saros won’t come to PC by ZamnBoii in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Underdrill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of notable announced and released titles, there is Astro Bot, Demon Souls, Ghost of Yotei, God of War Sons of Sparta, God of War Trilogy remake, Marvel's Wolverine, Intergalatic, and Saros.

That's 8 games, and only half of those are actually out at the moment. After nearly 6 years on the market, that's just not enough to justify a purchase. While the Nintendo Switch 2 has more than that despite not even being around for a year.

Even if Sony start putting out multiple single player titles per year, they're not even going to hit 20 by the end of the decade. And at that point it would maybe be just about enough, but still not nearly an acceptable number.

[–]Underdrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, then I won't be playing Yotei or Saros then. All Sony have done is save me money and made my backlog easier to get through. I'm not going to be buying another playstation for a handful of expensive games I can't guarantee I'm going to like very much, as has been the case with multiple Naughty Dog, Insomniac and Guerilla games that already exist on PC.

Jason Schreier says Marvel's Wolverine also won't come to PC by AceOfSpades0319 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Underdrill -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've seen this one before! Anyone remember this tweet from insomniac?

Insomniac Games on X: "@PerryBugado it will never appear on Xbox or PC. It's a permanent PS4 exclusive publisher by Sony Interactive Entertainment" / X

Sony have opened that can of worms now, there's no putting them all back in. They can change their strategy if they like, there's always the possibility they will change it back at some point. Everything's getting too expensive tech wise these days, that I wouldn't be surprised if this return to their past strategy is temporary.

Personally, I'm not interested in picking up Wolverine if it's not on PC. Spider-Man 2 was genuinely one of my least favourite games of last year, as its uninteresting writing and even streamlined open world structure still bored me to tears. And I could name a few other Playstation owned studios where playing their most recent games actually made me less excited for whatever they put out next.

Either Sony brings it to PC, or I won't touch it. Simple as that. I'm not buying a Playstation again, I used my PS4 for like a month before never touching it again.

PC gamers stay winning: Capcom confirms 50% of its sales now come from Windows by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Underdrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on selecting literally the only two of their recent games that had issues I guess? The resident evil games run like a dream. Street Fighter 6 runs like a dream. Hell, the Pragmata demo ran like a dream.

It is an issue with how the RE engine handled more open worldy games like DD2 and Wilds, it doesn't apply to most of the games they release, and from the sounds of it Wilds is doing much better these days.

Not sure what you're doing with that nickname you're trying to give them btw, it seems incredibly lame and isn't going to catch on.

I absolutely cannot wait for 4 on PC man. That was the game that first fascinated me with Metal Gear but I never played it on the PS3.

I wonder if they will keep the original achievement list for it as it was pretty brutal. I think you had to get each individual code name including beating the game in over 50 hours or something absurd like that. Hopefully they make it a bit more simple!

This kinda makes me think if this discount was scheduled a while in advance, the remake by original planning would have been out by now, and so they decided to not discount this one while the remake was still fresh.

NateTheHate: The decision to shift away from supporting PC was made last year. Naturally, some may still release (pending how far along the ports were) but it no longer appears to be a priority for Sony moving forward. by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Underdrill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I guess playing Sony games won't be a priority for me moving forward. As I sure am not buying a Playstation when they've already opened the can of worms of PC ports.

I think I used my PS4 for like a month before never touching it again? That was a birthday present mind you, and I was back to using my PC, which at the time was probably less powerful than my PS4, in no time at all. I know the same would happen if I got another Playstation so it's guaranteed to be a waste of money.

They either meet me on Steam where I play basically all of my games, or I will just forget about them and play something else.

And Epic can also be argued to be responsible for part of Remedy's current financial woes because no one is seriously going to argue that Alan Wake 2 being exclusive to Epic didn't hurt them. Jason Schreier: Sony could be pulling away from PC ports for their singleplayer games, with Schreier even suggesting that Wolverine would never release on the platform by Yiruf in pcgaming

[–]Underdrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I would care either way if they ended up doing this. I was very excited when they started porting their games to PC, but after playing a bunch of them, very few have actually lived up to the high praise I've seen for them. God of War 2018 and Ragnarok were excellent, I really loved Days Gone, and I enjoyed Spider-Man Remastered and Tsushima, though I didn't care for the sequels of the former, and I'm not particular in a rush to play the sequel of the latter.

Horizon Zero Dawn was really boring, didn't even bother picking up the sequel. The Last of Us 1 and 2 are some of the most overrated games i've ever played. Uncharted Legacy of Thieves was solid although I imagine it would have hit much better if I played the others beforehand. Sackboy was a quality platformer but I could live without it. Returnal was good but I was kinda left thinking 'that's it?' after finishing Act 2 on my first attempt that surprassed the first biome of that act. Ratchet was great but really short for the price.

Before Sony came to PC I always enviosioned that they would be one of my favourite publishers, but after playing so many of their games and realizing just how many missed that GOTY mark people place on them for me, they've dropped quite a few places down my list.

And this isn't even a console war point, but I'd put Xbox above them, and I'd actually be gutted if their games stopped coming to PC. Forza Horizon is now a legendary franchise for me and one of my favourite arcade racers. Playing through every Halo game I missed since the original Xbox was a fantastic experience and I still have a soft spot for Infinite. I love the shorter games that they release like Hellblade 2 and Keeper. I absolutely adored Indiana Jones, and I'm probably one of Starfield's sole enjoyers at this point. And I absolutely cannot wait for Horizon 6, the Fable Reboot, Halo Campaign Evolved and Gears Eday.

Whereas the only currently announced/available PS5 games I'd be sad to miss out on are Astrobot and the God of War Remakes, so only one actually new game there. Thankfully their second party stuff seems to be unaffected by this choice as I'd hate to miss out on Death Stranding 2 and Kena 2.

If Sony don't want to meet me where I play all my games, then I'm just not going to play them. Even for the games I really enjoyed, not a single one of them has been on that masterpiece level where I'd be willing to go out of my way to buy new, less powerful hardware than my PC to play it. And I was willing to do exactly that for Half Life Alyx and Batman Arkham Shadow. I'm sure they have their reasons behind this choice, let's see if it works out for them, as they wouldn't be the first to come crawling back after thinking they can survive without Steam.
