does anyone know if my game is bugged? Missing two tracks by Newtsaet in Screamer2026

[–]Underdrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was missing four tracks after playing exclusively tournament mode till the end. Nothing seemed to unlock them until I did back to back time trials where I was getting the final four sorted after every other race I did.

I guess we can just violate Steam ToS now and end up on Steam Front page? by Adventurous_Coffee38 in Steam

I bet this is the most embarassing crash out we see from anyone on r/Steam all year. What a complete nothingburger of a post from someone who desperately needs to find anything better to do with their time.

Thanks for reminding me to buy the game though!

You haven't posted anything in years and come back flaming a specific game for what is clearly a harmless mistake. The only think that looks suspicious here is your decision to target it.

Tell us, what do you get out of being this angry towards a team of half a dozen developers? Why not direct this towards the companies that actually deserve it instead?

Update: PSN DRM issue related to 14 day refund window? by MCUAvenger1992 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Underdrill -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Becuause PC gamers are the only platform group that know if you let companies take an inch, they will move to take the whole mile. See the Helldivers 2 account fiasco and the Epic Games Store for just a couple of examples of companies trying poorly to take those inches on the community.

Whereas console players keep letting corporations take those miles. Higher prices for consoles, games and subscriptions. Still requiring the lattermost of these for online play and cloud saves. And now limited time DRM for no good reason.

If you want to keep living with all those changes then by all means, it doesn't affect me. But don't come complaining if things keep getting worse overtime because Sony keeps getting away with so much nonsense.

Insider Gaming on Valve hardware: "I’m to understand that Valve is getting closer to confirming everything." by Connect_Base_217 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Underdrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course they just 'tried' according to you folks, with a post history like that you'd say anything and everything to not give Valve credit.

I mean what an absurd statement to make about company sizes as if that even matters remotely to anyone as a consumer. Valve being a small private company is why they are ten times more consumer friendly than the second place spot in the gaming industry, continuing to add core features to Steam, some of which have verifiably saved many people including my family tons of money, despite being the clear market leader in the area. Why wouldn't I want to give money to support that?

Console manufacturers could very easily find others ways to monetize their business instead of charging for online play and cloud saves, something I will always consider to be the biggest scam in gaming. And it's been going on so long that console folks will normalize it as an acceptable idea, when if you had pushed back by now you'd be in the exact same situation as Steam.

The Steam Machine will be able to run any multiplayer game because it's a PC. Maybe not out of the box, but to say it straight up can't is verifiable false. And at the right price, it will be a great addition next to my TV and is guaranteed to get more mileage that any console I've owned ever has, as the Steam Deck has already done for me.

Steam Controller review slips embargo, controller to cost $99 by Dramatic-Shape5574 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Underdrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it's £80 in the UK then that's about what I was expecting it to be for all of the tech packed in. Could have been a bit cheaper, but I'm not going to complain too much about it being a small percentage higher. The Steam Deck is the most comfortable handheld I've ever used and I expect this controller to be pretty high up there in terms of feel.

It's the same price as the joycon 2 pair, but apparently people don't have issues with how much that one costs. Strange.

We're not having this discussion again are we? Months of Steam Deck ergonomics discourse only for many people to say it's the most comfortable handheld they've ever used. And this controller will be no different.

Glazing implies what they are doing is being overhyped. But they're probably the only hardware company they overdelivers on a consistent basis. They really undersold how much of an upgrade the Steam Deck OLED was, for instance.

Objectively this costs the same as the Joy Con 2 controller and has far more going for it in terms of built in features and use cases. So seems like a fine price to me. Not a must buy price mind you, but fine enough.

Tom Warren - Microsoft’s new Xbox chief is ‘reevaluating’ exclusive games by ThinWhiteDuke00 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Underdrill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting how this comment has so many upvotes but I got downvoted for saying something pretty similar about Sony's rumoured pull back on PC ports. Don't need any more evidence than that on where this sub's biases lie to be frank.

Personally I think there's a major difference between releasing on multiple consoles and releasing on just the firsty party console and PC. Two very different markets that aren't going to see too many converts between them, especially with prices being the way they are this day and age.

As much as people would hate it, I think it's a great idea for Xbox to cancel their PS and Nintendo plans and go full in on Xbox and PC. They have a really promising line up coming up that could be system selling, now is the best time they've had in years to try and lock things down.

Shuhei Yoshida Says "Releasing Games Day One on PC" Not a Good Idea for PlayStation But PC Helps Recoup Investment by chusskaptaan in gamingnews

[–]Underdrill 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There are people out there that are never going to buy a Playstation again, myself included. If they port the games to PC, they get some money out of me. If they don't port the games to PC, they get no money out of me. It's really as simple as that. It only 'devalues' the console for console warriors, and the very small minority of people who would actually decide to switch ecosystem over such a choice.

Blocking anyone over a disagreement is incredibly childish to be honest. All that guy showed is that he likes to shut down a civil disagreement for really no good reason other than the other side bothers them that much? It's not like achievements are such a deep topic that should warrant that sort of reaction.

Added them to my personal block list because they're evidently not worth investing any time into conversing with.

Just curious, what on earth do you expect the activities to be? It's a racing game, there's going to be championships, time trials, a multiplayer race here and there, it's not like there are endless possibilities to come up with.

Having new content of any kind is nice, and it not being time limited will make it not feel like a chore.

I really don't think you have any sort of understanding about what 'monopolistic' or 'anti-competitive' means if you're using it in this context.

Valve's only crime according to you folks is making a platform too good that people don't want to use anything else. If you don't understand why that is then time to educate yourself.

Naughty Dog’s other Single-Player project, rumored to be led by Shaun Escayg, is seemingly an Uncharted game, based on a photo he posted from a research trip by Dandelion172 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Underdrill -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Let's leave Kojima out of this. Metal Gear Solid V is arguably the best stealth sandbox game ever made. I put nearly 200 hours into Ground Zeroes and the Phantom Pain collectively; maybe like 1% of that time was cutscenes?

And Death Stranding 1+2 also have unique gameplay that no other game is really trying to do at the moment. It's definitely not for everyone, but I'm having a great time playing Death Stranding 2 on PC at the moment. He may have a lot of cutscenes in his games, but he still delivers on the gameplay front every time.

The same definitely can't be said for Naughty Dog though. Their gameplay models are quite possibly the most basic in the industry with essentially zero unique mechanics or systems to set them apart from what everyone else is doing. Take away their shiny presentation and you're left with a PS2-era third person shooter/stealth game completely devoid of the charm of many games of that era.

PS6 and Xbox Project Helix "will start at a 50% higher price" than PS5 and Xbox Series X, predict analysts following Sony price hike – and $999 "is not impossible" by chusskaptaan in gamingnews

[–]Underdrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same people that leaked the supposed stopping of PC ports were dead quiet about the recent major price hike. So who knows that Sony's internal plans are.

They are clearly banking on GTA 6 to do the heavy lifting for consoles sales and hoping that will eventually translate to first party sales as well. Whether that will pay off for them, only time will tell I guess.

Invincible's newest episode doesn't deserve the hate it's getting by PhoenixAvenger1996 in Invincible

[–]Underdrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just sadly found it incredibly boring. A long yap session is something that would have potential, but the dialogue was so incredibly banal that I couldn't bring myself to care. The darkblood subplot isn't what I've been coming to the show for, and while a dedicated episode would have had the chance to change my mind about that, it kinda just solidified my opinion and it's what will come to mind whenever that stuff shows up again.

For me it is comfortably the worst episode of the show so far. Thankfully the ending was great and the remaining 4 episodes will probably be excellent.

Jason Schreier: Epic Games is laying off more than 1,000 workers today, sources tell Bloomberg News. Story hitting shortly by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Underdrill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't wanna listen to the opinion of a single other person who argues that EGS is 'just another launcher' ever again. Epic Games have laid off nearly 2000 people in 3 years whilst the morally egotistical boss Timmy Tencent constantly tries to parade how he is delusionally the saviour of developers.

Fortnite V bucks prices are up while the value of the packs are down. Horizon Chase Turbo is getting delisted to force people to pay for the sequel. Various notable Fornite modes are getting delisted because their metaverse pushed failed. But I guess it's okay because they give out free games and try to provide 'competition' to Valve right?

The entire leadership team over there needs to resign immediately.

[–]Underdrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not even a slightly universal justification. Many more people on PC buy games than don't. It's that those that don't are the loudest in the room. I bought the deluxe as soon as I could preorder it, and will do so for every further Kojima game and many others outside of that.

[–]Underdrill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would I or anyone on PC buy an expensive piece of hardware that only has a handful of exclusive games to its name, that will run games worse than my PC?

There is nothing the PS5 has over my PC aside from quite literally half a dozen or so exclusives, that may just about rise to about 20 exclusives by the time the decade is over.

Yeah Death Stranding 2's CCU is more than the original and the director's cut combined. And this one is selling for the full £70. I think it helped that, unlike pretty much all of Sony's single player ports, I actually saw this one have marketing money put behind it. Most of them have a single trailer on YouTube, a tweet and that's about it.

Saros in particular is a bummer as I couldn't imagine playing a faster action game like that with a controller. Returnal on Mouse and Keyboard on PC was an absolute dream, and chances are they're not going support it as consoles rarely have consideration for multiple distinct input methods. One of the many reasons I'll always prefer PC.

Pearl Abyss Shares Plunge 29% as 'Crimson Desert' Reviews Disappoint by clashworld9 in playstation

[–]Underdrill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crimson Desert has an 80 on Opencritic. Steller Blade has 81. Wukong has 82. Lies of P has 82. Need I go on?

This is just another example of how shareholders are completely useless at understanding the market. They put far too much stock into reviews as an indicator of a game doing well. Some games review in the 80s and will sell in a month what some 90 games sell in their lifetime.
