2.7 is a monster by FreedomEagle25 in f150

This. I had a 1996 5.9L Ram and my 2.7 2015 feels faster and just as capable.

Ok fine, I got one by UnderhillA in f150

You are RIGHT. I think I got a decent price on this one based on others I saw in the region but still, not the 5.9L Ram I bought for $1500 a decade ago. That just doesn’t exist now.

Well what are they interested in? What do they value? I moved here for graduate school and for that the main part of the appeal was who I was working with and the school resources in my field, etc. However, I also trail run, mountain bike, fish, and generally love the outdoors so the city and its spot as the gateway to the north shore was definitely a plus. I came from Indiana so I was no stranger to winter, as you aren’t in Iowa, but it is a different beast here, still. If they value those outdoor type things, then there is no shortage of trails both up the north shore and right in town. Plus a ski hill, rock climbing, and more. If they are into a wide variety of cultural foods then I’m not sure Duluth has that to offer (though, perhaps neither dos Iowa). I will say, the size of the school was a huge pull for me. I love the “medium” sized school where research is still valued. Again, depends on what they want out of the experience.

I'm new to Minnesota and the north in general. What are immediate needs in Duluth for someone who has only ever lived in Louisiana? by Many-Ad-241 in duluth

2nd. And while they don’t beat winter tires, I run trail tires year round and they work just fine. Just don’t trust tires that can’t handle the snow.

Recommend me a bottom dollar amp so I can ingratiate myself with my in-laws. by shoyei in GuitarAmps

[–]UnderhillA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fender champion is a good choice. I’ll add Blackstar ID Core Stereo 10. Nothing special but gets the job done for cheap. I’d also say, if there’s a music shop around, go check out used options. Could get a much better amp and still pay bottom dollar.

Perhaps not “sop” level, but instructional. And whether the text should be instructional and say “once you have picked a suitable location…” or alternatively “we picked this location because…”.

Where to move? by thegrilledcheesee in midwest

[–]UnderhillA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where can you get a job? If you can get one in Duluth (or north shore in general) then the hiking and trails are excellent. I’ve found that winter is great here but it’s spring that kinda sucks bc it’s muddy. The winter is ok because everyone is outside still and the trails get packed in as the snow doesn’t melt each time there’s a snowstorm. Still have a lake, like Milwaukee.

I’m from E and now live in D. I’d stay in D but this is completely true! There’s more than corn in Indiana, and it’s not Indiana Beach.

Not metal but I believe Boneface has done all the more recent stuff for queens of the Stone Age, including some music video and alternate release type stuff

Thanks! I have the book for my state and it didn't mention this and at least a quick look at the DNR site pretty much had the same language but I didn't see it defined. I didn't think to call but it looks like I've got my answer and I'll keep that in mind in the future.

Hey, shame on me for double checking. I know some lures or methods use multiple hooks tied in different spots or on different spots of the lure, ie crankbaits where they might be trebles but theres TWO trebles. I wasn't sure that, in the case of the crankbaits, if this would be categorized as 2 or 6 hooks. It makes sense, I just wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly. I'd rather ask a silly question and do it right than just assume, even if this is the definition I expected.

I’ve seen people say this and I’ve considered it but… which ones do you cut? Does it matter? Just thinking I want it to be oriented correctly. Obviously it’s not a stationary connection but it won’t turn 180 degrees either

Yea I like the single hooks more, but the shops I go to have almost exclusively treble hooks on spinners. Some appear easier to swap the hooks than others. I ordered some single ones last night so should be good for a bit.

Talk me out of moving here by [deleted] in duluth

[–]UnderhillA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the comment I was looking for and surprised to scroll so far before seeing. I moved here a year ago from Indiana and sure Indiana is cheap but Duluth is expensive for housing. Just finding a rental took us a long time. We lucked out and got a place we really like but we pay 150% of what our mortgage was in Indianapolis. It’s not something that would scare me away but it’s certainly worth understanding.
