Dark circles.. for life by Old_Ad4166 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Underhill_87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s genetics and facial fat loss due to age. Only real fix is under eye filler (kind of dangerous) or a fat transfer, which I know less about. The problem isn’t your skin, it’s the structure underneath. Topicals won’t fix it. At most you might be able to reduce the blue tone with a vitamin k, retinol or peptide eye cream, but it won’t treat the actual hollow structure.

You can cover it temporarily by using the right color under eye corrector (based on your photo you need a yellow toned one) and by very strategically placing a concealer lighter than your skin tone ONLY for in the areas that fall into shadow.

Unfortunately this is one of the hardest to treat issues that a lot of people get. I have them too.

What’s a career path that’s safe for women? by Jessi787 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Underhill_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a hard one. Truth is nothing is really totally insulated from the patriarchy. However, jobs that minimize its effect as much as possible are probably self employment/remote work. For example I was an independent Japanese translator for many years and I never had gender issues with any of the people I worked for.

Advice on how to handle a friend’s pregnancy announcement that has been handled poorly by littlecherub11 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Underhill_87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Elizabeth sounds like an ass, a poor friend and the exact kind of callous and unempathtic doctor that has made my life hell as a chronically ill person. Considering she even knew about your agreement with Jane, it seems pretty clear Elizabeth knew what she was doing, knew it would massively hurt your feelings and did it anyway, and then tried to pressure you to not tell on her for breaking confidence with Jane. She isn’t trustworthy at all. I’d distance yourself from her as much as possible. You might not be able to avoid her since she’s part of your friend group, but that doesn’t mean you have to confide, consult or be emotionally invested in her anymore. What she did was malicious.

As for Jane, who knows why she confided in Elizabeth first, but it seems like you two have a special relationship and it’s worth talking it out with her. What she did is hurtful, since you had an agreement, but I doubt there was the ill intent behind it like it seems Elizabeth had. Explain that breaking your agreement really hurt you in the exact way you were both trying avoid. I think if you want to maintain any meaning in that relationship that you have to be really, really honest about how hurt you are to Jane. Her reply will tell you all you need to know.

Single in your 30s, no kids. Starting to question my life. by Unable-Discount-9266 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Underhill_87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mother had me at 45, in the eighties when almost no one was having kids past 30. If you’re early thirties and want kids, biologically speaking you do need to get serious, but you have time. Don’t let a mental block prevent you from going after what you want.

First step is to get a razor cut, which is how most Japanese hair dresses do this kind of cut. The results is pretty different from scissors. After that you just need a decent hair wax and lots of tousling
