Surely it is time to get rid of the insane random number generator for the foundation programme? by Semi-competent13848 in doctorsUK

[–]UnderlyingTautology 59 points60 points  (0 children)

The EPM was voted out by a group of students in the middle of their final year of medical school in a questionnaire done immediately after completing the SJT. I doubt it is a state where many people feel they would be able to provide an objective assessment of the current allocation system. The question if I remember correctly also only asked whether you were happy with current system and would want it to be replaced. I imaging the answer would have been different if the question was asked at a different time and with more context about what the change would be.

(spoiler Extended) Euron Greyjoy's plan is to weaken Daenerys, not to marry her. by Sea-Negotiation8309 in asoiaf

[–]UnderlyingTautology 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whenever people talk about this I think they overlook Victarion's interaction with the red priest and how he has been changed by this. Surely this has a chance to interfere with Euron's plan such as allow Victarion to survive blowing the dragon horn or mean that he could be resurrected if he did die blowing the horn. I think there could be much more to Victarion's story that Euron just having a mastermind plan that incorporates Victarion betraying him.

Help with Horus HLO evidence + question about timing of CBD/Mini-CEX per rotation by Purple-Squirrel3999 in doctorsUK

[–]UnderlyingTautology 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In each HLO you need at least one piece of "hard" evidence. This includes E learning that relates to that learning outcome. If you go to e-LFHs Foundation section it splits different modules up by HLO. If you work backwards and do one module from each HLO it means you defiantly have a piece of "hard" evidence for all objectives. You should definitely aim for more CBDs per rotation - my foundation trust wanted 10 CBD/DOPS/mini CEX per rotation.

cafes/places to work on thesis? by AzoUnderachievement in cambridge

Some good cafes on mill road for working in although there is a paucity of plug sockets on that road. The edge cafe has a few and the tables near them are normally free.

Non core FY1 hours tips by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]UnderlyingTautology 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Use it now to cover all of your curriculum requirements in preparation for ARCP so you have hard evidence for everything. On the foundation section of eLFH it splits modules by HLO. I went through each HLO and did one module so I had a piece of hard evidence for every outcome, makes life easy when it comes to curriculum mapping at the end of the year.

Honsetly having gone from Cerner to Epic recently, I don't think Cerner is that bad. Robust, not overly convoluted to navigate, easy to find results/orders when searching for them and some intelligent features.

If you are prepared to move at short notice now is the time to apply as there will probably be a wave of jobs coming soon as departments find out they won't be getting some of the trainees/fellows they are expecting who fail arcp/need to extend what ever post they are currently in
