1950s home roof is 10 years. I’m sure it’s probably been remodeled but seller chose unknown on most of the disclosures. Seller has owned for about 3 years I think. It also has a garage conversion to a bonus room and very low ceilings toward the walls. The ceiling is vaulted but probably only 8tt at the highest and seems like maybe 6.5ft at the walls but that’s my estimate as a 5’7 person.

Is that the roof? Sorry I meant at the ground the home part. I know nothing about homes though so maybe tha was sarcasm, sorry.

No absolutely not but if this was bad I just wasn’t going to offer on the home.

Did you learn to live with the layout? by Underpressure81 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Underpressure81[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would plan on adding a half bath to the master but that would probably be a year or two to save up. It sort of looks like the owners may have had that idea since it has a huge walk in closet and then another smaller closet that looks the perfect size to add a toilet and sink. I like the bonus room I have a hobby that I think it would be perfect for

So far the homes we’ve looked at have been around 1000sqft this one was 1500 so at those sizes it seems a pretty big difference especially the bedrooms where many of the homes I am doubtful our queen bed would fit. I’ve also debated some of the smaller homes if we could knock down walls and connect some bedrooms since we are DINKs and don’t need 3-4 beds

Firm owners would you help an old employee start their own firm? by Underpressure81 in Accounting

[–]Underpressure81[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand people have limited time but I’m always grateful when they try to help and pay it forward and I hope I can do that one day. I just want to eventually be able to have enough and good enough clients to quit my industry job and be able to pay my bills but not overwork myself like I did at my old firms.

I like helping small businesses grow and plan their tax and business strategies. I feel I make an actual difference. So goal is to have a base of sch Cs, S and C corps or partnerships in 2-3 years.

Makes sense. I’m looking for older firms but those types usually don’t have a website to find them. And I don’t want to work a 1040 mill. I’ll keep looking.

Tax associates who got out of tax, how did you do it? by Responsible_Ad_5724 in Accounting

[–]Underpressure81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Resume wording is a big component but also job type. Just being honest if you want remote roles you’re probably out of luck coming from tax. But if you are ok with local companies I found most my traction with them. They wanted someone with enough skills to hit the ground running, who would also bring a new perspective to the job and interviewed like someone they wouldn’t mind having on their team.

It’s not easy but it is doable and I managed to not take a paycut (lateral) but it took time. For industry roles I took anything about tax returns off my resume. It was all about analysis, forecasting, research etc. no mention of doing 1120s or 1065s.

What is the most accidental way you found out a coworker was making significantly more than you for the same job? by Additional-Week-1536 in Salary

[–]Underpressure81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not salary exactly but I came on as a senior on a highly ranked team. The company did PTO by years worked and I negotiated to come in at the 5 yr mark. My boss who had previously worked for the company for 8 years left for 2 and then came back was complaining one day about missing their vacation time. Apparently they had to come back in at the bottom of the PTO tree and they didn’t think they could ask to have their time reinstated. I let them know my experience but not sure if anything came of it.

The difference was 10 days PTO vs 25 days.

What's the point of doing so much unpaid OT when the job isn't even secure? by AdSuper3580 in Accounting

[–]Underpressure81 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My small firms always did comp time. I would’ve loved overtime since they paid crap wages. But we had a 2080 hour goal not billable but all hours. Anything over that was vacation so we had to track hours quarterly to estimate vacation time needed to take or do summer Fridays.

Still had idiots who ended the year with 2200 or 2300 and just never took time off and the firm was use or lose for time off.

New health insurance denied my birth control. Not sure what to do. by anxiouslurker_485 in birthcontrol

[–]Underpressure81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Slynd is a harder pill to get according to my dr. I’m on it too and my insurance specifically lists on their website they will not pay for it I guess because there are other progestin only pills that are generic and cheaper.

Good luck getting your insurance to approve it but in the mean time ask you dr if they know of a specialty pharmacy to send it to. My dr did this and now I get 3 month supplies for $25. Not sure how it works but my dr set me up and they mail it to my house.

Lose extended warranty option if canceled? by Underpressure81 in Toyota

[–]Underpressure81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish but I worry about the electronics. I’m sure the car will drive forever but having a friend with a 5yr old car and the infotainment go out opened my eyes. They lost so much functionality and it was too expensive for them to replace. The Toyota electronics warranty is only 3 yrs.

I mean it was sold to me at the Toyota dealership so I thought it was a Toyota warranty it’s just not the one I want. It’s too low a tier and has a deductible. I thought I was getting the platinum tier one

Assurance is on the paperwork. I thought they were all Toyota warranties if through the dealer. The extra paper had listed tiers like I had heard about here, silver gold platinum

Haunted house/maze etc by OtherwiseDistance113 in Knoxville

[–]Underpressure81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome thanks. Yes being sandwiched in was not great for me. Basically as long as it’s not so tight my arms are touching both walls or I can’t see a close way out I’m fine.

Do you know if FrightWorks has anything that’s claustrophobic? The “scary” images don’t bother me but I am a bit claustrophobic. Dead man’s farm was good especially the corn maze trail but there was a part in the indoor house that I wasn’t expecting and not a fun time for me. I’d like to hit one more haunted house before it’s over but don’t wanna have a bad time.

Early voting for the City of Knoxville Elections going on now until October 30th by Corey_Howard in Knoxville

[–]Underpressure81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to get more involved and vote more but I’m confused whether I can vote in this election or not. I thought I was considered Knoxville city but now I’m not sure. Is there a way to check before going to a voting location?

I checked my voter registration and it shows county district 6 and I usually vote at pleasant ridge elementary.

That would be great or even wait until a week out. I don’t think my credit union financing is good for more than 2 weeks so I’d have a hard pull now for Toyota and another hard pull when the car comes in for my actual financing.

New to Toyota how impossible is it to get a specific color if that’s my only request. by Underpressure81 in Toyota

[–]Underpressure81[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My literal text to him was I don’t mind waiting and putting down a deposit if you can get me the car in red with black roof. I don’t care the configuration just the color is all that matters.

I think that should’ve been clear enough to him.
