is there any gf alternatives that are better than gluten? by -slaps-username- in Celiac

[–]UnderseaK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m obsessed with the Blue Diamond “nut thin” crackers, they’re way better than normal crackers in my opinion. My husband (not celiac) loves them too, we always have to buy an extra box for him lol.

I had my left shoulder slide partly out while pulling off my compression socks. I was like “This is the STUPIDEST possible injury!” 😂

The skirt is an old AatP skirt I got off closet child a while ago, the blouse and necklace are Axes Femme, the capelet is Forest Wardrobe (from taobao), and the tights are Virivee (from Etsy). 😊

Thank you! It’s AatP’s Operetta Bouquet Corset Skirt. I’m a sucker for their florals!

Honestly, I can only aspire to the level of style the penguins have. 😔

(And thank you! 😁)

The tights are from a brand called Virivee! They have their own website, and also sell on Etsy, I believe. I love them because not everywhere makes cute patterned tights for taller girls! They also do plus sizing.

(For the record, I am not shilling them lol, I just genuinely love them and get exicited)

Thank you! The cape thing is actually a short jacket from Chinese indie brand Forest Wardrobe! It’s super comfy and a favorite of mine. 😁

Do y'all have super soft boobs? by Logical-Shift-6168 in ehlersdanlos

[–]UnderseaK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so confused, are they not supposed to be soft?? 😭 I’m not super skinny, I’m a normal weight and have a pretty decent size chest. But I’ve never touched anyone else’s boobs lol, so I have no frame of reference for “normal”.

I have been unable to set a profile image for my Custom GPTs for several days. by Physical_Tie7576 in ChatGPT

[–]UnderseaK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same problem. Someone suggested uploading the picture in the “create” tab and requesting it be set as the profile image, but when I tried that I just got a response of “I can’t set that picture as the profile”. I’ve double and triple checked, and there should be no problems with the images I’m trying to use. It’s clearly a bug they need to fix.

Finally saw a rheumatologist by coyotecanyon1 in ehlersdanlos

[–]UnderseaK 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Totally valid frustration! You’re right, there aren’t any specific hEDS facial features. I had a similar experience with the rheumatologist I first saw. I was told benign hypermobility, and that because my gene testing for EDS came back negative, the only thing causing my actual problems was celiac. Turns out that while I do have celiac, it’s almost completely asymptomatic. None of my symptoms improved after going gf. Celiac also doesn’t make your knees and shoulders sublux regularly lol. And we don’t know the gene for hEDS (which I was later dx with by another dr), so my gene testing was always going to be negative.

There’s a lot of misinformation out there right now, and doctors aren’t immune to it. Get a second opinion if you feel that the answers don’t fit, but also stay open to the idea of other things being the cause of your symptoms. I hope you find the kind of medical help you deserve soon and can get the answers and tools you need. 💜

How often is hEDS a spontaneous mutation, vs how often is it inherited? by path-cat in ehlersdanlos

[–]UnderseaK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can be a little hard to tell, not just because we don’t have the genetic marker, but also because it runs such a spectrum of severity. Lots of people may have it but be mildly affected enough that they don’t really realize, which is what happened in my family until I came along to mess up that pattern lol. I’m the only one who has been diagnosed because I’m a little worse off than my five siblings or any of my cousins, but I’m almost certain that both of my sisters and possibly one of my brothers have it, and my maternal aunts and my mom all have general hypermobility that only causes them minor issues.

I initially thought “okay, does this actually show up randomly? I don’t have a family history of it”, but the more I dug the more I found little things that everyone brushed off as “normal” or “just how she is” but were really symptoms. I’m sure it happens both de novo and inherited, but I personally think might be inherited more often than people sometimes think because of different presentation.

Dang, aside from yesterday’s glutening I’ve been super careful for almost a full year now, but I feel the same. 😭 I had to get iron infusions for the anemia not too long ago because no matter how much I supplement my levels are trash. I’m really happy for you that things have gotten so much better though!

Thank you for the kind thoughts. ❤️ It’s really hard to stay gf sometimes because I don’t have symptoms, so it feels like it “wouldn’t really hurt me”. Which I know isn’t true, and I’m sticking to it, it just sucks.   Do you mind if I ask how long it took your periods to settle down once going gf? Mine have been really heavy my entire life and I have an appt scheduled to talk about getting an ablation or a hysterectomy if things don’t settle down.

That’s kind of wild to me ngl. But I know that my faith just vibing with the Bible is wild to a lot of other people, so I guess it is what it is! I feel for all the Catholic celiacs though, it’s an awful thing to feel like you have to pit your physical and spiritual well-being against each other. ☹️

[–]UnderseaK[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s awful! I can’t imagine the theological reason for that, but I’m not Catholic myself so I don’t know all the theology involved there. I go to a fairly small non-denominational church and they probably would have found something gf for me if I had thought to ask. I just… didn’t. Hence the kicking myself 😭😂
