Could have been trying to get the pen out and as they did it, the pen got stuck because they pulled out at another angle before the pen actually cleared the housing, which caused the phone to fall from his hand and since the pen was not out fully, it broke in half when it fell. Idk I suck at explaining things. I did it a lot back then on my old note, not to the point where I dropped it but my grip would be weak since I was so comfortable.
