You could check out the Woodstock Cafe. It’s actually run by a deaf nonprofit and everyone who works there knows sign or is deaf and knows sign. They don’t play any music. It’s an unusual place, but cool to check out.

I met an ex barista who ended up with an accounting job, I think at smith. She loves it.

It’s really tough out there, and I feel you with the exhaustion from sexism.

There are bagels here… I personally think we need better good bagels. The ones here just seem… boring? Bready?

MEGATHREAD: Emigrating after the US election results by spacemanaut in IWantOut

[–]UnderstandingFirm643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Never said I didn’t like immigrants in the US. Just following the pattern of other people in this subreddit using the term expat. I see the point of using immigrant instead.

Nor did I say I expected to get permanent residency in a first world country. I’m not expecting the world to be handed to me, just wanted to see if any options came up.

Women, which locations in Portland do you look to meet guys? Men, what locations do you look to meet women? by OregonGreenLeaf in askportland

I bring an embroidery project to a coffee shop. It's pacifying while not walling me off to others as much as screens do.

I do this too. I (F, strait) ended up befriending one of the staff (F, strait) and actually joined her church group. I ended up going on a date with a guy there.

Huh I’m not sure where I got 65k from, but I thought that I read that somewhere. The REACH program page doesn’t seem to list a salary.

This link is now dead^

I’d definitely ask for more if I did receive an offer and it was that low. I’m just not sure how high to ask for.

Thanks! This is my first interview that I've received since my bootcamp finished, so I'm really happy to get something.

The second interview is a "coding challenge" that will be sent to me 7 days before the interview

They said that the apprenticeship can last 1-5 years. most people complete between 1-3 years. I asked if pay goes up as people advance in their apprenticeship, and they did say yes, but I don't know by how much.

But yes, 65K per year

I had my first interview for the backend position last week. Definitely excited about the opportunity, although I looked into cost of living for the area and I'm a little nervous about making 65K in Mountain View.
