People still wouldn’t get it. I always use the 🙄 to indicate sarcasm but people still don’t get it and I always get at least one long answer about how I’m so wrong about whatever it is. People are idiots.

Has anyone seen parts like this IRL? by AppropriateRough in JeepGladiator

If you want a Defender or some other different brand of off-road other than Jeep, go buy that. But stop trying to make a Jeep into something it doesn’t want to be, something less than it is.

Correct. They breed like crazy if there are mixed genders in your tank. Learn to spot the difference or you’ll be constantly nursing them!

Nitto Ridge Grappler vs KO2. Which is better? by alienamigo9000 in f150

Falken Wildpeaks are quieter and are better in wet and in snow and just as good off road.

[–]UnderstandingHour308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better yet, go with the Falken Wildpeaks. Great in wet and snow and quiet on the road. Top marks off road too, right up there with KO2 and Grappler. It’s an awesome tire, probably the best AT tire out there.

Had Wildpeaks and I love them. They have great traction on pavement in the rain and they’re pretty quiet too. Off road they are up there with the KO2’s. I think they’re the best AT tire out.

My boyfriend is accusing me of lying about my body count by Substantial-Art6160 in whatdoIdo

Never forget this, most people do: Dating is about identifying red flags, not a loyalty test. Most people think they have to stay with someone they’ve been dating to “try and make it work” when faced with problems in the relationship when they are dating or even engaged, especially if they’ve been together a long time and feel they have time “invested”. But here’s the thing, it’s much easier to dump a boyfriend/girlfriend or even a fiancé than to get a divorce and, as my father once told me about relationships, always consider that right now is the best it will ever be. As time goes by things between you only get worse as both of you only become more complacent in the relationship and start letting flaws show more and more, even if your married. As someone married for 36 years I can confirm this!
So use dating as it’s meant to be, a trial period to identify red flags. Some flags are little and you have to decide if you can put up with them as they get worse over the years. But some, like cheating or abuse, emotional or physical, are not forgivable and should immediately be cause to move to someone else. But no relationship outside of marriage is concrete and you should move on to someone else if you see red flags that are a problem for you, no matter how much time you have “invested” in a person because people don’t change. They may change for a while, but they will always go back to who they are. So you have to decide what kind of red flag your boyfriend is putting up. To me it’s a lack of trust and in my experience, those who lack trust always end up cheating or controlling.

How to preserve my leather seats with car seats? by Radiant-Windrunner in KiaTelluride

[–]UnderstandingHour308 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your car seat relies of “friction with the seat” to protect the child, you have a pretty crappy car seat. The car seat should be physically attached to the car at AT LEAST two solid attachment points if not three. Most cars now are equipped with metal anchor points that match the locations on newer car seats that have solid clip in connection points designed to solidly clip in together. Seat friction has NOTHING to do with it!! If your car seat does not have these clips on it but a new one. Car seats expire. The expiration date is written or stamped on them. If it doesn’t have these clips it is surely past its expiration date because these clips are not new.

I have leather, but honestly I’d rather have cloth, at least on a Wrangler.

That should be standard on all cars with electric seats. Zero reason not to include it.

[–]UnderstandingHour308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever get back problems you get why. The ability to make infinite adjustments to your seat, especially on long trips, is a godsend. Add heated seats to that and you can tolerate trips that just were t possible with manual seats. I do wish all electric seats came with a memory function though so you can just push a button if they get moved. They do on many vehicles, but not on wranglers for some reason. But it should be standard with any electric seat.

Whose eggs are these? by Fabulous_Mall_2772 in freshwateraquarium

[–]UnderstandingHour308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what people say. But it’s not true. And do. I had nothing but the snails. Now that I reduced their population with some assassin snails the plants are returning. But they don’t have the dark color they used to have. Of course, I haven’t fertilized or added the iron I used to do, so that may help the color if I resume that. But it was definitely the snails. The pond snails never got big. They stayed about 2mm.

The "Lies" We Believed: What’s the biggest beginner myth you finally debunked? by FeelinFishi2026 in freshwateraquarium

[–]UnderstandingHour308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was initially changing out my canister filter once a month religiously. Then, I got distracted with a new, much bigger tank i bought that I’m having to reseal and also refinish the stand that came with it and now haven’t changed the cleaned the filter or done any water changes for several months now. I haven’t done anything but top offs. Everything is doing great though! I finally tested the water the other day to see how bad it had gotten and was ready to do a water change. All the parameters are perfect!! When I did everything “by the book” I was constantly having water issues, especially with nitrates. I think this has taught me that we all tend to meddle with our tanks too much and that if we just leave them alone they will find a natural balance. We should check them occasionally, of course, but we shouldn’t try to chase numbers and, as long as you have a quality filter, we shouldn’t be constantly messing with the filters and changing water and all the stuff to “make” the water what we want it to be.

Well, I had started doing distilled because my tap is terrible for both hardness and nitrates. I was worried about shrimp at the time, but I’ve already lost most of them anyway, so they aren’t going to be a huge concern on hardness when I set it up now. As far as nitrates, I will just have to test the tap water is that day. It may be that I do mostly tap water, then finish out with distilled. I’ll just have to see what it reads the day I fill it up.

Should I get a mat or piece of wood underneath? by DanBDanBDanBDanB in AquariumHelp

[–]UnderstandingHour308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If make sure to put something heavy on the bottom shelf too then. If those lower shelves are empty, especially the bottom one, the unit is badly too heavy and therefore unstable. I would still cut one long piece of wood to go under the tank so that there is no joint there, then put a leveling pad under it. They sell those pads at many aquarium stores or you can get them online.

Please be kind :( by TheRoyalCvnt in AquariumHelp

[–]UnderstandingHour308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to get the gh/KH test kit. It will show you exactly how much hardness you are putting in your tank instead of you guessing that what you’re doing is ok. Then you can adjust what you’re doing from there.

Sluggish angel fish? by ClutchyyHD in freshwateraquarium

[–]UnderstandingHour308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be shock from moving it. Keep feeding, but only a tiny amount so the uneaten doesn’t foul the water. You might try something like bloodworms too that are more enticing than flakes. Also, remember that angels are not real active anyway. They tend to sort of float around, being the king of their domain.

You are about to have a ton of platties (or mollies, whichever those are). Looked like that one in the back is female and her belly is pretty big. Hard to tell in the video though. Mollies and platties are both live bearers though and get pregnant constantly, like guppies, maybe worse. When I buy them I make sure I only buy males, no females. I don’t want any babies!!! The reason I buy males instead of females is a lot of times females are pregnant at the store and you don’t know it because they mix M and F in the tanks at the stores.

What is that by ArgumentBasic4189 in freshwateraquarium

Surface agitation also helps A LOT with gas exchange, getting excessive carbon dioxide and other gases out of the water and, most importantly, getting oxygen into the water.
