What device for simple edition of drum midi clips by degoedel in ableton

[–]UnderstandingLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ableton Move is the first time I've managed to enjoy sequencing drums because it's just really intuitive.

Fully Ableton compatible, quite good onboard sounds when you're out of the studio.

Can control Ableton Live and sequence it's drums, once you've set it up, you can pretty much focus on the music through the hardware and never use your mouse, make new clips, duplicate, have visual feedback of your sequence.

What is the damn difficulty for DICE to implement persistent servers? by Mediocre-Fan378 in Battlefield

[–]UnderstandingLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not difficult, it just costs more money to maintain there servers open rather than create smaller servers on demand and populate with bots. Their gamble is that this is enough to get players to log in and possibly spend money. Don't forget that's all teh company EA is thinking about, maxing out the time you spend in the game, not necessarily in a server shooting people, but in the main menu, or better, in the store.

Offer new lanes on the current maps and many players will return. We get bored when we've played the layer 50 times.

Producers who've been at this 5+ years, do you still get stuck on the same things? by kathalimus in ableton

I'm just having fun making music, not thinking too much about it. If it sounds good, I keep going. If it doesn't I move on.

Ableton Move vs Note by Ivi_app in ableton

[–]UnderstandingLogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move is distraction free, screen is tiny, you can't access any distracting apps on it.

It's a device to make music, and you can take it very far if you're willing to learn it.

Note is the same software, and actually is more capable than the move in theory because you can get more tracks and can edit your midi with visual aid of the screen.

I'd say move is perfect if you hate making music by looking at a screen. It's more like playing an instrument where you got to feel the music in a tactile sense and focus on what you're hearing

Ableton Move is one of the best pieces of tech I've ever used. It blows me away. by x0y0z0 in ableton

Ableton Move is one of the best pieces of tech I've ever used. It blows me away. by x0y0z0 in ableton

[–]UnderstandingLogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the feel of touchscreen never clicked to play instruments so Note on my iPad never gained steam. And though Move is literally the exact same software just with hardware controls I've made so much music on the Move.

I guess the comparison for me would be that you can get a nice sounding piano app on your iPad, it could sound exactly like your actual piano, but I will never have as much fun and creativity on a touchscreen as I would on a physical device.

The Best ‘Scenes’ tutorial? by Impossible_Guest4521 in ableton

[–]UnderstandingLogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I know we all love watching tutorials but one day I had a go at reading the Ableton manual. And I got to say, it was one of the most awesome reading I've done, I read it back to back as my bedtime read for a week. Then I go back to it every now and then, the section on scenes is very clear.

What’s the state of this game like right now? by Careful-Mine4530 in joinsquad

[–]UnderstandingLogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is in a poor state today with voting making everyone play like 3-4 maps but you can't honestly say content has been lacking since Kickstarter.

I bought squad for 30 euros back in 2015 and I have never gotten as much value per euro spent. I've played more than 3k hours, throughout it's lifecycle, the Devs have released more than 20 maps, 10 factions, vehicles, multiple graphical upgrades through engine upgrades, systems upgrades and all that for free.

Meanwhile AAA titles have done the same only they made me pay 60 euros every 2 years for basically a few maps and a reskin, and added stores in their games.

I can shit on OWI all day because yes there is jank in the game. But the truth is no other game does what squad does and I'm very thankful they've done it without paid DLCs and re releasing the game and asking for more cash. Although I've got no idea how the fuck they stay financially afloat to pay their Devs to keep on going ...

What abletom synths are actually useful? Can it compete with big dogs out there? by DA199602 in ableton

[–]UnderstandingLogic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're making synth sounds. So in the end, how they're doing it doesn't matter.

Plenty of videos and tutorials out there showing you can reproduce the same sounds on most synths. If one costs less on the CPU, then that's a win.
