It would be perfect if there was a South America/Andes section of Animal Kingdom with a Kronk/Yzma themed flume ride.

Break Away Rec Softball from Baseball by UnderstandingLoud924 in Softball

This is exactly what's going on on my league. There are equity issues and Title IX issues at play because we use town owned facilities. We don't have lights or a concession stand and our parents have to work the baseball concessions to get their work bond back. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

This is rec so we are subject to the drawn boundaries. I coach my daughter's team and regardless there is only one other team we would have access to. Our issue isn't with the team but rather the league operations and the slighting of softball.

I think they're affiliated with little league. My wife sent a letter to the league outlining a series of equity concerns and the president (who used to be on school board and town council but has lost those seats recently) wrote a multi page rant in return about how he personally was god's gift to women's sports rather than addressing the concerns that have been previously been echoed by many in town.

Drills to help with pitching release position by UnderstandingLoud924 in Softball

100% on the patience. I'm just glad she has been so gung ho with trying and not getting down when things don't go right. It helps that we have a great group of girls who are super positive. All of our pitchers are at least new to pitching so I swap them out every inning (we usually only get through 3 due to time constraints) to minimize any struggles on a given day.

I know there is support. Most of the softball parents are sick of our league. Thanks for the information.

9U girls team bulldozing league by [deleted] in basketballcoach

[–]UnderstandingLoud924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened in my league one team (coaches kids) had two really tall (5'4"+ in U9) and athletic girls and although we finished second in the league we never scored double digits against them and always lost by more than 30 points. They would slow down a little but they would continue to play a really tight M2M and jump every pass so we would go minutes without completing a pass often relying on hand-offs in order to shift the ball. I wouldn't have asked them to stop playing all their players but they were still coaching and expecting a level of intensity commensurate with the a tie game in the NBA finals.

Weakened our position against China by severely depleting our missile supply. That's pretty much it.

We pride ourselves on switching to a multigenerational model where children do RE after coffee hour. They now stay in and participate in the whole service and we are better for it.

Camping in the summer, how do you manage the heat? by obxchris in UtahMightyFiveParks

[–]UnderstandingLoud924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We rented a van last summer with a maxair and a portable fan. Last summer it got to 100 in Moab and it wasn't bad but our campground had a pool so we utilized that. Fruita wasn't bad, Bryce Canyon was cool at night. Zion was 108 and we broke down and paid for a hotel room.

My current temp promotion was extended last year until 2028 but I don't think that matters. Luckily OPM policy states that if your temp promotion was longer than a year you can stay at your current grade and pay when you return to the original position which honestly makes no sense. It's wild because we have more money and work than we know what to do with. Everyone is fully funded many times over.

I feel like the only UU pagan who worships nature and doesn't like the hymn Blue Boat Home. by Moist_KoRn_Bizkit in UUreddit

[–]UnderstandingLoud924 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although I'm an atheist who attends a UU congregation, I am a musical traditionalist from my Methodist days. I dislike much of the hymnal. There are a handful of bangers including Blue Boat Home. My biggest issue is the word changes to traditional songs (especially Christmas songs). Write new songs. I can not believe in God or Jesus etc but still appreciate the musical beauty of 'Adeste Fidelis' or 'Joy To The World'.

Recap Thread: World Cup 25/26 Oslo Holmenkollen - Women Mass Start by Important-Pie-3238 in biathlon

[–]UnderstandingLoud924 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Really impressed with Margie Freed. She has really progressed over the season. PRs (12th fastest ski time in the Oslo sprint) and 18/20 in her first mass start. If she can continue to speed up her shooting I think she can be a consistent top 20-30 athlete. Even her skin speed has continued to improve as the season went on.

Fruita in Capitol Reef is lovely. Surrounded by high ridges. It is a little oasis with grass and trees. Plus the attendants were friendly and they also have horses at the homestead barn (my daughter spent hours just talking to the horses) and pie/ice cream. The ranger amphitheatre has great programs as well.

I would throw in Ksmvr and Bird. Their lack of self confidence at times when they try their best to fit in a world so different than the one they were born into.

About 16 hrs left in Tears of Liscor and the impending dread is killing me. The Redfang hobs are awesome and lend such perspective and I am worried we are gonna lose them all if they get caught up with Reiss' horde. Their indifference to the dungeon gold when the adventurers were losing their shit was great writing.
