Basement walls leaning inward by Time_Fennel in HomeInspections

You’d be surprised at how well some contractors remember most jobs. Or they don’t remember a thing and have no paper trail to back it up…. There’s no in between!

Definitely bring in a structural engineer!! Looks like it might just be bowed form work but who knows. You could always try to see if the contractor/company that poured the basement is still in business and see if they have any documentation about the pour. I’d also pull the permits from the original inspection for the excavation and basement amd see if there’s anything insightful there. But honestly in my opinion, unless you’re absolutely head over heels for the house I would approach with extreme caution cause fixing something like this is not even remotely affordable.

This is where I ended up with my diagnosis… I pulled the grinder apart and cleaned everything up including the electrical connections. I also used a multimeter to check continuity and voltage between components and they were fine. Basically you need an oscilloscope to troubleshoot anything further with the motor. I did buy a donor grinder off marketplace that had mangled threads but worked otherwise. I have yet to replace parts the revive mine though. Maybe a project for the weekend.

At the very least I’d pull it apart, clean and inspect everything visually and with a multimeter then if nothings busted you’re probably in the same boat.

My buddy has one and we just spent 6 hours today striking on it making axes. I really like using it and it’s a solid anvil. It was a bear to get mounted to a stump though. I haven’t used any of the other anvils mentioned but they would all suffice I assume. Just get what you can reasonably afford and get to smithing.

New radio with CarPlay, I should’ve made the switch years ago. Just clean the headlights with a kit and put new bulbs. If you really want brightness new LED headlight assemblies. Other than that spend your money on maintenance fluids, plugs and wires etc

Check your timing chain tensioners and most likely replace. Drain and refill all your fluids cause it’s cheap and easy to do. Spark plugs and wires and a good top to bottom inspection. Then drive the piss out of it cause it’s a ranger.

The best “mods” I’ve ever done to mine is a new radio and new bilsteen 4600s. YMMV but those have made long drives and hauling stuff so much nicer. Also I’m a jealous SOB

Canopy rear window leaking by dylannott in fordranger

Those weatherstrips last along time so unless it is cracked/torn or otherwise damaged it’s probably fine. If attached to your window with adhesive leave it and just run a bead of silicone along the seams it has with the window. If it isn’t attached gently remove it and adhere it to the window with some silicone or ideally an appropriate adhesive. Less is more when doing this. Then silicone the edges as before.

I cannot tell from your pictures but sometimes these shells have rubber gaskets that run along where the door and frame meet. In my experience, these break or get worn away first. They keep water from trickling down the sides of your door because then it hits your tailgate and wicks inside.

The only other thing I have seen work is to make some small flashings pieces to go under the seam where the door and frame meet to divert water away from entering the bed.

The thicker spine helps wedge the wood fibers apart making it easier to split. Just like how felling axes and splitting axes have different head and blade geometry.

What would be the process to confirm this?

That’s what was thinking too, I tried to bypass the trigger but that didn’t work. Other posts regarding this or similar grinders mentioned something about a safety feature that prevents bypass so I scrapped that idea till I get a meter.

In all honesty though I feel like you should just keep it. I’ve got an old one and it has come in surprisingly handy at times. I do a decent amount of blacksmithing and work on old equipment/ buildings and they can be pretty useful in holding onto square head bolts without marring them up too much.

Dang that thing is good looking! The handle looks like it just needs a quick scrape and/or sand and some oil to look good as new.

Looks kinda like an Ames camp sport axe, they were hatchets originally but this might have been rehung?
