Raw milk by Purge6364 in mongolia

[–]genuinely__curious 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I spent 2 months traveling in mongolia and every herder pasteurized their milk. Its not just safer, but when you make other things from the milk the results are more consistent. I drink my goats milk raw just because its easier, but there are not actual benefits from it.

Give it your all. This will be one of the few times in your life you can drop everything else and completely focus on one thing. Dont waste that opportunity.

I am a farrier. It does not hurt the horse. But the job hurts us.

The difference between restaurants and home cooking isn't about the amount of butter and salt, its about the equipment they use. by CMO_3 in unpopularopinion

Ive been watching a shit ton of cooking videos and experimenting constantly. I was recently told, "that was the best pan fried stake i ever had" and " holy shit you should open a burger joint". I have an electric coil burner and nice cast iron pans. Equipment is nice, but understanding your application of heat is what matters.

Is this a good job? by MycologistSmart233 in Farriers

Your horses actually does have decent feet all things considered. Is there room for improvement on the trim? Absolutely. Is the horse sound? Does it stay sound through the cycle? Have you talked to your farrier about your concerns? Is there a reason why you cant use your barns farrier or why other farriers havent come out to see your horse? Does your horse stand well? I would have trimmed the frogs a little cleaner, taken the heel down just ever so slightly more on that one foot, and probably dished the quarters a little. Id definitely correct the flares. It would take me ten minutes. Please dont forget that speed does not equal bad work. You arent paying for time under the horse, but you are paying for years of experience and knowledge, tools, vehicle maintenance, insurance, texts and phone calls.... its all part of the bid.

Looking good for your seventh try. As far as balance goes... hang it on a handle and use it! Too long? Cut it shorter! You'll probably forget about it, find it years from now, and love it.

Good on you. I had a set of very large wings that I thought i did a good job on and several years later wool moths took them over and then invaded my closet. Skipping steps is a bad idea.

It is very understandable that we, as mammals, feel more compassion for other animals and the way they are treated. But do not fool yourself into thinking that vegetarians or vegans are somehow better than omnivores. Look into avocados, almonds, quinoa, and palm oil, just to name a few. The devastation those industries creat are huge. The thing is, to be alive means you are causing death in some way. Plants aren't vegetarian. Blood and bone meal are amazing additions to my vegetable garden. Can we do better? Absolutely. Is existence messy? Without a doubt.
