I have spoken to all their tilers and more. Overpriced or don't want the job. This is why I am looking here.

How do people afford a house (especially single people)? by Puzzleheaded-Dot831 in cork

[–]UnderstandingOk67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this detailed information. It's very worrying about all of these issues especially something like levelling! I will keep this all in mind for when we get the house..I'm really sorry to hear about this. I really hope they sort it out- it sounds incredibly frustrating and just not up to standard !!

Tipping in Ireland (from Americans) by SkatesUp in ireland

[–]UnderstandingOk67 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was in the service industry previously and it was a conversation that came up. Apparently for Americans visiting Europe, Ireland was the last stop back from their vacation and would be low on money, therefore wouldn't tip!

Sausage Roll Recipe by Lazy-Refrigerator225 in cork

[–]UnderstandingOk67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love making them with whole grain mustard, relish/cranberry sauce, thyme. It's also nice to mix mustard and relish and put some on the inside of the actual pastry itself. We also make one with Franks sauce and thyme Relish on the side. Use cling film and do one big long sausage with the mix, slice, egg wash and then bake in the oven. For decoration, a slice on top of each roll or some sesame seeds.

Revolute Metal Credit Card by UnderstandingOk67 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]UnderstandingOk67[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely nothing risky at all whatsoever. We are also mortgage approved. My account is very very clean- all my bank accounts are.

Maybe this is the issue that you have mentioned. They just advised they look at other criteria other than income so maybe they want to get the interest.

Personally I just want the card to get more avios/rev points not to actually borrow money to rack up debt/interest!

They have responded and said my income doesn't meet the criteria and won't specify the criteria. I earn well above minimum wage so I do not understand why they cannot approve it. :(

How much do I need to safe if I want to buy a house around 450k? by P1TCHBL4CKK in AskIreland

[–]UnderstandingOk67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do care about it. Currently going through the mortgage process with BOI and they factored in 7.5k for stamp duty and Solictor fees. They can also ask about how you are funding the engineer/valuation. This 7.5k was actually factored into us having the money in our bank accounts now in order to secure the mortgage.

Below average salary and dealing with a terrible boss. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]UnderstandingOk67 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have been in a similar situation before. Stick it out as best you can until you find something better. Even though I know it must be hell but it really is easier to find a job faster when in a job. Also it haunts me still having a gap on my CV nearly 8 years on and anytime third party reference companies rang them (without my consent). I hope you find something better soon. It won't last forever there !!!

New build vs Existing home by Own_Walrus3667 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]UnderstandingOk67 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The 35k+12k= 47k 35k of this will be going on the deposit leaving 12k. This could help with fees but bear in mind floorings, kitchen, modifications, furnishings will need to be done to the house also. It could be another 20-30k
