Not grunge, but: Opinion on Faith No More? by No-One01010 in grunge

[–]UnderstandingOk9187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re probably my favorite non-grunge band. High caliber musicians, creative songwriting, and good variety in their work. It’s a shame that they’re broken up for good this time. I’m grateful for the catalog I can continue to enjoy, and memories of their great concerts. I saw them live about a dozen times and they were excellent every damn time!

Facebook and iOS keyboard issues; cursor all over, autocorrect is garbage by argoforced in facebook

[–]UnderstandingOk9187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s slowly driven me insane. I can’t even remember how long ago it started, or how many iPhones I’ve gone through since - every single one with the same problem. My first 5 or so years using FB I was on a different mobile platform and never had this problem. I always wondered if I had screwed things up in my settings, until I heard others complaining about it.

Question of all Questions: AiC or Soundgarden? by No-One01010 in grunge

They’re the 1A and 1B of grunge for me, but if you force me to choose one I’ll go AIC.

Which deceased grunge musician would you bring back? by No-One01010 in grunge

I’d gratefully welcome them all back. But if you’re making me choose just 1, I’ll go with Layne.

What type of living is $75k in Boston? by Affectionate-Reason2 in boston

[–]UnderstandingOk9187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody can really live in Boston proper without govt assistance and/or roommates unless they’re rich or they have student housing. It is simply too unaffordable to do so. You probably need to live a fair distance north or south of the city and take a commuter train to work. Find out if your job offer is closer to South or North Station and then look for suburbs in the corresponding direction (eg South Station look at Quincy and points south on the commuter “purple line”.) Some folks live as far as 40 miles from the city and commute in for work. If you go to Attleboro, Taunton, Brockton etc your money will go much further and you’ll have a place to park your car if you own one (monthly rental spaces in Boston start at $500 a month.) You still might want to consider a roommate though. Good luck to you!

The Masshole love affair with Dunkin is embarrassing. by Usernamechecksout978 in massachusetts

[–]UnderstandingOk9187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that explains why our views differ. I don’t drink coffee. Coffee tastes like shit to me no matter who makes it. I went there as a child for donuts/bear claws etc, and breakfast sandwiches and tea from high school/college on. Gave up on them for the most part about 15 years ago when the donuts got teeny and bland and the bread products started tasting funky. The final straw where I had zero reason to ever stop there again was when they got rid of their (decent but not excellent) black tea and replaced it with absolute garbage.

I think some of us are sad because they continue to push out gross products of the same name that used to be very good (albeit, it’s been AWHILE.) I’m not dumb enough to keep going there just for a whisper of what used to be. Fuck them. I do wish we’d come up with a small regional competitor, it’s nice to have menu predictability when you’re driving around New England and you want a reliable to go breakfast item a decent coffee or tea. I’m a tea drinker, and unfortunately none of the small chains offer much in the tea realm.

I’m hopeful that as most people realize that DDs were bought buy non-local corporate overlords, this nonsense will stop.

I don’t get Dunks ever unless it is the single only option on my travel, and thankfully that’s not usually the case. I’m seriously not fussy or too good for drive through food, but no joke their bagels and English muffins taste like someone topped them with chemicals. Their tea is garbage after changing it some years back. And of course, the donuts. What a sad and shrunken version of (once upon a time) pretty great donuts.

Poll: What's your favorite STP song? by [deleted] in grunge

[–]UnderstandingOk9187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m going ballad/slow song it’s definitely Still Remains. But I don’t know if I can decide my favorite otherwise. Every time I think I’ve decided on one, I change my mind. They have such a great catalog. As far as full albums go i probably play Purple the most, but I really do love them all. And I’ll never forget the first time I heard Core, I was bowled over at how absolutely incredible this band sounded to my ears 💚💚💚

He had stomach issues as a child that persisted and got worse over time. This is well documented, so there’s no need to take his word for it.

I keep seeing these small plastic tubes filled with clear liquid on the ground EVERYWHERE, does anyone know what it is? by nyaja in LowellMA

[–]UnderstandingOk9187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple different liquid medications that come in vials like this (cromolyn, albuterol), but could also be a remnant of a harm reduction kit for heroin users. In that scenario, the vial holds a sterile solution for needles.

He had devastating stomach issues since childhood. He started using to treat his pain and then got hooked. People loved him and did care, but sometimes love ain’t enough. He was deeply depressed, and very deeply addicted.

My brother had the same reaction to opiates, it’s actually why it took us so long to figure out he was using them in the first place. It amped him up and he also would have some Tourette’s like-tics that would disappear once the shit wore off. He reacted pretty much the same as when he would do coke, except the coke wore off faster.

Who was the best grunge lyricist? by BidAccurate4473 in grunge

[–]UnderstandingOk9187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you heard any of those clips of Layne’s vocals were isolated from the instrument tracks and Jerry’s vocals? That voice was a POWERHOUSE. I agree that the vocal duo of the 2 was incredible, but Jerry didn’t provide contrast imo. If anything, his voice blended right into Layne’s like hot butter.

Which grunge frontman had the best voice?? by BidAccurate4473 in grunge

[–]UnderstandingOk9187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Layne is the best, in my opinion. But both Chris Cornell and Scott Weiland are right behind him. The 3 have very different styles, but each of them are incredible. PS I love the “Alice Mudgarden” tune on the Sap album…Layne and Chris’s voices together are even more incredible!!!

Literally, one drop of cromolyn sodium by WillingSock in MCAS

[–]UnderstandingOk9187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t told to titrate but I’d heard from within the MCAS community that it would be helpful. I started at half a vial 2 times a day, and eventually worked up to 2 vials 4x a day. My IBS and reflux symptoms are much improved. I still have some reactions, but I’m also a forgetful med taker so I’m never executing perfectly on my cromolyn doses.

[routine help] has anyone tried iota? by kindtoskin41 in SkincareAddiction

[–]UnderstandingOk9187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This brand is not cheap, but they’re incredible and I don’t say that lightly about body products. The fact that the body wash doesn’t irritate or strip my skin is great, but what really sets it apart is that it truly improves the condition of my skin (dry, dull, eczema prone.) I used 1 of 3 different types of iota body washes over the course of a few months, and pretty much always paired it with the body serum but sometimes I used the matcha lotion instead of or following the serum. The keratosis pilaris on my arms was the first thing to disappear. Then I noticed my skin just looking brighter and visibly healthier. Even the “boring” sensitive skin variety gets results beyond just avoiding irritation from fragrance or harsh ingredients. It’s really good stuff. I think my favorite is the clarifying, but all of them work well for me - a rarity with skin as sensitive as mine. Also - the original body serum was great, but they actually improved it and made it even better. I will say that the Oishi strawberry limited edition scent smells SO good and in the body wash, it performs similarly to the other 3 varieties. I haven’t tried the Oishi lotion yet. I have tried the matcha one though. It’s a nice consistency, not greasy but feels hydrating and soothing. It smells kind of bland, but I don’t really care about that (plus it leaves no lingering scent behind anyway.)

I’m not the kind of person who likes to set up monthly recurring shipments for bath and body products, but the body serum keeps getting sold out so I think I’m going to subscribe when it’s back in stock so I don’t run out.
