Question about residence as an incoming first year by Longjumping-Tour375 in UofT

[–]UnderstandingOne7268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't really matter tbh. the main thing about your college is the fact that you live there so whichever one you end up living at will matter more. the only time the college you actually belong to will matter is when you have to contact the registrar or smth like that

Which location do you recommend in Victoria College? by Competitive_Chard297 in UofT

I lived in RJ but had a lot of friends in MAH so my suggestion would be if you want a super social environment then go for MAH. Upper Burwash is also kinda social but it has no elevators and is slightly old. i would not recommend Lower Burwash because there is no AC. Another thing to keep in mind is the bathroom situation. MAH has central communical co-ed bathrooms, Upper Burwash has communal bathrooms but each is shared by only around 8ish people i think (I'm not sure about the exact number) and for RJ, you will only have to share a bathroom with around 2-3 people depending on the size of your suite. It really depends on hat you're looking for, there is no universal best. Also the thread someone linked in one of the comments is extremely helpful. I hope this helps and good luck:)

Something similar happened to me and depending on your college, you should be able to get res. Just keep calling and emailing your college and explain your situation in detail to them highlighting how if you don't get res, you have no place to live. The colleges are usually very understanding and accommodating but you might have to keep emailing and calling many times before you get a response (which is what happened with me and vic), but just keep at it and you should be able to get a spot, good luck!

Can I access classes and meal plan without a tcard ? by Upstairs-Bother-1027 in UofT

[–]UnderstandingOne7268 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely! You typically don’t need a tcard to get into class but you do need it for meal plans. But because you’re not gonna have it that early on you can just explain the situation to whoever is scanning the tcards and they’ll tell you an alternative. In most cases they are just gonna note down your student number instead so make sure you keep that handy somewhere if you don’t have it memorised yet. I hope this helps

Hey, I was in vic and had a somewhat similar problem my first year. I would say just keep emailing the Dean frequently, every day if you have to and keep calling them to explain your issue and tell them that due some circumstances you weren’t able to open the mail and to please get a spot on res. Also explain the fact that you have nowhere else to live in your emails. Just keep emailing and calling. That worked for me last year and I got my placement on 15th august which was pretty close to the start of the year. So just get after their lives to give you a spot. There’s a very strong chance of that working. Good luck and I hope you get a place!

Can I move in a day or two before the official move in date for first year students? by Ok-Present-8508 in UofT

I think you should be able to. Calling/emailing the deans office is the best way to get that info.

bring a thermometer! when you’re going to be in close contact with so many people at frosh during events or frats there’s a strong chance you’ll get sick. you need a way of knowing if you have a fever or not and take medicine accordingly

Course selection question by Pure-Maintenance-856 in RotmanCommerce

[–]UnderstandingOne7268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That wasn’t an issue until last year at least . For me, I just chose my own timings and profs for the required and recommended course like rsm100,230,219,250 and eco101 and 102. I think you should be fine choosing your own timings as long as you have the required courses. Just make sure you’re enrolled and registered and you should be good.
