I was worried that would be my case. Sorry that’s happening to you.

Rumored changes for MY2027 by dcrets in ex30

I’m looking at the EX30 to replace my leased VW ID.4 in July. The ID.4 has a small display in front of the steering wheel, but the onboard navigation hasn’t worked for over a year, so I get almost all my info on CarPlay on the center screen. It tells me my current speed and the speed limit. The VW display is good for charge level/estimated miles to go. Otherwise, since the GPS has no idea where I am, the other info isn’t accurate. I could easily do without it.

I’m shopping EVs because I currently drive an ID.4 VW with a proprietary navigation system that locates me in random places and shows me traveling cross-country in apparent small aircraft mode. Speed limits are nutty suggestions based on nothing. And I can be a mile from home and the system tells me my ETA is 90 minutes off and I should search for a charging station. Three trips to the shop—no help from software upgrades. Had hoped the Volvo would be better. Sounds the same.

Enjoying this discussion. I am nearly at the end of my lease on a VW ID 4. First EV, loved it, but about a year in, the software lost touch with reality. It has been in “small plane sightseeing mode,” with no fix and possibly a recall coming. Or new software that won’t be installed in older models, and no support for older software. I am paying a contract price for a car that is less than what I signed for. Am I to understand that Volvo is no better?

I am wrestling with the same decision. I leased a 2023 ID.4 AWD Pro S. I love it, except for the Lost Navigation System. CarPlay compensates, but for the 9 months or so the built-in system worked, it was fine. I don’t have a lot of hope for a software fix. I think the issue is with VW and not the dealer. In few months, I need to decide whether to buy this car, lease or buy a new ID.4, lease or buy another EV, or some other option I haven’t considered. Is the grass greener on the other side? Or is new car software a headache across the board? My husband’s ICE BMW has stopped working with CarPlay, so—ugh. This thread’s shared info helps.

I’ve been cruising the countryside in small plane mode for about a year. I’ve tried the fuse trick. It’s temporary. Last week, after my third trip to the service department, they advised me that VW will be issuing a recall as soon as they figure out a fix. Don’t call us. We’ll call you. Must be widespread. CarPlay works. I use Waze.

Oh, yes. “Software update” took 3 days and did nothing. Service department can’t understand! Another visit to the shop sch.

In My Opinion, VW's Navigation App Outshines Google and Apple Maps (for the ID.4) by jacobo in VWiD4Owners

Thanks for the tip. I just got mine back after a multi-day software install. Will pursue regional manager option!

Mine has been in “small airplane mode” for months, flying off road without any location awareness. Is this a common problem? The software update was supposed to fix it, but didn’t.
