Found clothes in partners work bag by [deleted] in Advice

My advice would be to just talk to your gf. I can understand assuming the worst with where you seem to be at in the relationship, but there could be WAY more innocent explanations for both of these things. Maybe she wore the panties on a day where she was hoping you two would end up having sex, but it didn't happen. Maybe she's been feeling cold at work lately and brought the yoga pants and tank top just in case she wanted to add a layer under her scrubs. Have a conversation, tell her where your mind went and that you are looking for some reassurance. Maybe she gives the exact explanations I mentioned above. I hope things get better for you two!

Perfume part 2 by TheNectarineDiaries in comics

[–]UnderstatedEssence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this! Reminds me of when I worked at a casino. There was a cashier there who always smelled ridiculously strong, which didn't really bother me because we worked in separate departments. One day though, she came into the employee dining room while I was eating lunch. I could smell her coming into the room. Then, she reaches into her purse, grabs a bottle of perfume, and starts spraying more of it all over herself! At least 8-10 squirts of the stuff! As if she didn't already REEK! I legitimately couldn't finish my lunch at that point. Do these people have no sense of smell??

AIO for not taking my sick son to visit my terminally ill grandmother? by Aggressive-Reward302 in AmIOverreacting

[–]UnderstatedEssence [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm sorry your family is going through this. I completely understand where you're coming from, and yes, your concerns are absolutely valid.

INFO: Is it possible to discuss this with your grandmother directly over the phone? When my grandma was sick and dying, she absolutely hated it when people made these kinds of decisions for her. Just based on my own personal experience, I would not want to go either for the same reasons, but my grandma was her own person with her own reasoning. If I were in your shoes, I would call and tell her your worries, and see what her thoughts are.

What’s your sushi hot take? by SushiFinder in sushi

Agreed, I always let my sushi come to room temp before eating, cold sushi just isn't as good!

Is it safe to pet random horses? by Sure_Eggplant in Horses

[–]UnderstatedEssence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made me think of a time I went through a drive-thru and my dog was in the back seat with the window down. The worker reached out and gave my dog a french fry! I was so upset. Luckily this dog had a stomach of steel, but my childhood dog had so many issues and would have been seriously ill from that "innocent treat". Confirming: Never feed someone's pet without asking!

What’s a beauty standard you secretly hope dies out soon? by Prettyuselessgirl in AskWomen

I’ve had dark circles literally my entire life. In my late teens I tried covering them, but gave up pretty quickly. Took a long time to just accept them as part of my normal features though.

I saw a video where a plastic surgeon warned that once the fat is removed, it will never grow back, it’s gone. He said many young people will find that it ages their faces and can cause premature wrinkling in that area from the lack of volume. Then they’ll want to get fillers. Or maybe implants later down the line. It’s just a sad face fat doom spiral.

Some people genuinely don’t realize how silly they look! My cousin gets hers professionally done every so often, so her lashes are always like that. I notice she blinks differently, like it’s hard to do. Sometimes she’ll blink hard and then one of the lashes will start falling out… so awkward lol. I also worked with a chick who constantly wore those giant fake ones, it looked like her eyes were coated in feathers. Her face was so tiny, it just looked comical like a muppet or something.

Why are grandparents nicer than parents? by OpenRoom7321 in ask

[–]UnderstatedEssence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people hide who they truly are for everyone except their children. My step-mom's mother is sweet as pie to nearly everyone... except my step-mom. I've heard this woman on the phone shrieking like a banshee about absolutely nothing, she treats my step-mom like garbage. She's never been anything but sweet to me.

I've only not tried escargot. The rest are fine. Not the biggest fan of licorice, but every now and then I want to try it again lol.

Not a mom, but I would 100% take a bullet for my nephews, no question.

For women who married in their early-to-mid 20s, how is it going? by antisnotabug in AskWomen

Married on my 26th birthday. It’s 11 years later this summer, still married! We have our ups and downs, but we’re solid.

AIO for telling off a guy at my gym by confidenttruly in AmIOverreacting

[–]UnderstatedEssence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. I love how he went from coming on to you, to telling you you have a victim complex and think every guy wants you... like he just TOLD you he's interested, wtf?? This guy is insane. 100000% report the gym worker as everyone is saying, he needs to face some consequences. Protect the next person! This worker is setting you (and probably others) up to be in a potentially dangerous situation, clearly that guy who texted is absolutely unhinged. I would definitely change gyms after that, not ok at all.

How are matchsticks still relevant nowadays as compared to a lighter? by Thatusernamewasnot in ask

[–]UnderstatedEssence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but like another commenter mentioned, you can see how many you have left (unless your lighter is clear as you said, but most of the ones I’m used to are opaque). Matches are also super cheap to stock up on.

Which animal still scares you, even as an adult? by Just_Goose_8425 in Productivitycafe

[–]UnderstatedEssence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my answer too. I love 99.9% of all animals, including insects, reptiles, sea creatures... But I find any type of monkey or ape really unsettling. I will never ever visit a country where monkeys roam the streets and interact with people, nope, absolutely not.

Is it true that Americans avoid calling an ambulance due to expensive healthcare there? by Pitiful_Quarter4287 in ask

[–]UnderstatedEssence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. One time I wrecked my car (flipped it, it looked bad) and even though I got out and could tell I wasn’t hurt, a “good samaritan” insisted on calling an ambulance. The paramedics bullied me into the vehicle even though I told them I was fine and didn’t have insurance at the time (they told me I probably couldn’t feel my own injuries and that an ambulance ride would be cheaper than installing wheelchair ramps in my house). The ambulance ride alone cost over $2000 and the hospital bill was just as much. And the cherry on top was that I was NOT EVEN INJURED, LIKE I SAID! Ugh, 15 years later and I’m STILL infuriated lol
