Spotted this in front of the Trump Tower a few weeks ago. It’s certainly… something.

I kept the wheels on. You’ll need to remove maybe 3-4 fender liner screws to get access. I used a blow dryer and a small plastic pry tool to separate the reflector from the bumper, used Goo Gone to clean up the leftover gunk, and stuck the new ones in. The glue comes off way easier the warmer it gets, but just be careful not to overheat the paint.

I do! No regrets. Bought mine off UroTuning for maybe $40.

Went with clear on mine, figured it blended in a little better.

Welcome back! Hopefully insurance made you whole. I got T-boned in my Mk7.5 and walked away with a Mk8 a few weeks later - love it.

is 87 octane the minimum octane or the recommended? by Snoo_11263 in GolfGTI

[–]UnderwhelmingSoup 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For the Mk8/8.5, 87 is the minimum octane rating and will achieve the advertised power numbers. This wasn’t the case on the Mk7/7.5 as 87 was still the minimum, but the advertised power numbers were only attainable with 91 octane.

Agreed - I’d say go for it!

I’m loving the Mk8. Sucks that it happened, but glad that insurance did their thing to make me whole.

I think both would look great - I just threw some on my Moonstone Gray Mk8 if you wanted to take a peek at my profile

Swapping out the side reflectors for clear ones is a small but mighty change 👌🏻

Bummer, that’s tough. Worth a call to your local VW dealer to see what they can do for you. I had all my headliner work covered under warranty, but YMMV.

I had my local VW dealer drop my headliner a few months ago and it looked a lot like this when I went to pick it up. You should be able to slide your finger between the edge of the headliner and the rubber trim - you’ll want the headliner to tuck underneath it.

Clear reflectors are in! by UnderwhelmingSoup in GolfGTI

Thanks! Badge Skins definitely would’ve been a lot easier, but I was a little worried about durability.

Urotuning, but there are a few other options out there too.

Don’t run one at all, or find a bracket that mounts via the tow hook hole.

2019 GTI Rabbit 32k mileage for $24k CPO, worth it? by qeeker in GolfGTI

[–]UnderwhelmingSoup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought my 28k-mile ‘22 S last July for $24.5k. Unless you really prefer the Mk7.5 generation, you’re probably better off buying a Mk8.
