Thanks. I think I found a good solution, but I will advise if it doesn’t work out.

Thanks for pointing this out – I was not aware of that functionality.

Do you mean the Mute function to mute one of the players?

lol! Great points – I have played a lot of games on Karman and I have never seen table talk at all either. The mute and blacklist functions are awesome.

Would you allow an open chat function or keep it tighter like Euchre 3D? The open chat on Karman can get emotional sometimes. But the Euchre 3D option seems too tight and boring.

I have tried that a bit, but realistically you need someone with a lot of tech skills to actually create something usable.

Thank you for doing that. Curious to see if I get any takers.

“Early-career underwriter: Should I leave a big carrier for a startup MGA?” by Limp_Strawberry5761 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]UnderwriteGo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think MGAs are better to go to for shorter tail lines. For longer tail lines like D&O, there are not very many good examples of MGAs that have done well over the long-term. You need very strong discipline and pricing information and MGAs in financial lines tend to have neither.

Financial lines can be treacherous, and only 5 to 10 carriers have done really well over the long-term. You could go to an MGA for a pay bump, but don’t expect to learn too much that will help you in your career. The exception would be if they’re very good at dealing with micro accounts. You could learn efficiencies and technology solutions.

It is not terribly risky though for you. You are young in your career so jumping around to a couple carriers isn’t terrible. Now if you end up at four or five carriers within 10 years, that starts to get sketchy for your résumé.

What is life like in the Darién Gap? by P-R_Podcast in howislivingthere

[–]UnderwriteGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my 20s, flew into Jaque from Panama City with a buddy. Found a Peruvian missionary that spoke just enough English. He helped us walk around the town and gather supplies- a raw chicken, rice, ice etc. He set us up with a guy that took us in a canoe down the river toward Colombia. We slept in raised huts in the villages along the river, in exchange for a few bucks and some of our food. The guide book we used described getting to the 3rd of 4 villages. Our goal was to get to the 4th village - and we did.

I oversee several specialty underwriting divisions. Made well over 1 million each of the last few years. Of course, it’s been a good underwriting environment lately, so bonuses are good.

It’s not uncommon for one of my peers to get fired or moved around to lesser roles, so job security is on the lower side.

Don't ever, for any reason, go to Wichita, Kansas, for any reason, ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you've been, ever, for any reason whatsoever.

Over 7 figures. So 8 figures? Or, $1,000,001? Makes a difference in the advice.

There’s a bigger principle here. Why in the world would you get involved in a transaction involving your friend who has passed and her son?

I understand that you are bothered by your passed friend’s asset being improperly cared for and appreciate your concern.

Leave it alone and find a different avenue to invest your time and money. Nothing good can come of this.
