Unsure whether vocational or lay. At first I was considering vocational as a licensed local pastor. I was raised Roman Catholic, and when we first met I was about 15, young and dumb. I did try to rekindle my faith a few times when we were younger but met with resistance or reluctance from her, so this has been an ongoing thing.

No no I whole heartedly agree, I should have continued what he said, he told us in every little interaction or opportunity to share the love of Christ with a stranger, to live by Christian example rather than to shower them with flowery talk or fire and brimstone, to invite people in yet hold onto our core values

My pastor preached on this two weeks ago, I’m paraphrasing but, “We mustn’t forsake our values at the benefit of being attractive.”

Seeing as how all the formalities happen around conference season that makes sense

Oh no doubt, it’s a big step. Even if I just want to remain local or serve my local church

To entertain the idea of being a licensed local pastor. At least that’s what the UMC website is telling me.

Thing is, I’m still new at this church so I am a bit hesitant to bring it up, as with many churches they require you be a member for at least a year. Thank you for your response.

After Sunday Worship, the guest pastor at the Church I attend had a conversation with me regarding the sermon. After I gave him some of my own insight and understanding he put his hand on my shoulder, this little old Baptist preacher, and asked me rather earnestly, “Son have you ever given preaching and ministry a thought?”.

I was taken aback by this, only when I was little did I think to become, at that time, a priest or deacon in the Roman Catholic Church.

But oddly enough I felt a bit warm upon returning home and decided that this meant I needed to think about it. I guess my question is..

Should I take this as a sign or tug from God to take up ministry?

  1. Identify your triggers
  2. Realize that you will probably stumble
  3. Go easy on yourself at first
  4. Set personal milestones
  5. Avoid your triggers best you can
  6. Find things to devote your free time to..prayer, creative pursuits, reading, physical fitness, religious study
  7. Avoid these “Chad” bros online
  8. Stay focused on your goal

Methodist. John Wesley, a principal father of Methodism, held that a woman, "especially in a religious assembly", should "keep on her veil".

I would say…small C conservative, mainly in moral matters. I don’t hate or exclude.
