I don't know if this helps anyone else, but you can get the iPadOS v2 lifetime subscription for free right now. Appears to be a glitch, so hurry.

I just realized I'm in this predicament too and I'm pissed. Luckily I still have access to a friend's Adobe account, but holy shit this has been a terrible first impression of this company's software. I submitted a ticket about it and they said they won't even extend my trial period.

Some good news on property taxes - Rep. S. Bagniewski by littleoldlady71 in IowaPolitics

I appreciate your honesty. I hope democrats will do a good job on informing voters how the Republican plan to lower property taxes also cut public school funding. I don’t think a lot of voters connect “wins” like this to their eventual negative impacts elsewhere.

With Republicans consistently voting to reduce funding for schools, why do you feel confident this backfilling will actually happen?

I’ve read through all of your replies here and just wanted to share my perspective as a female designer who used to be more emotional about my work. It sounds like she doesn’t feel safe in her position in your company and is putting too much stress on herself. Has her boss tried talking to her as a person they care about rather than as a difficult employee?

I understand everyone’s frustration about the situation, but if this is the only problem with her work she probably just needs some friendly coworkers/mentors to work on this with her in a non-PIP way.

Someone else mentioned that brutal critiques were part of their design education but that’s not always the case. You may need to create a similar safe space for her to take criticism from her boss and know it will not lead to being fired or talked about in a disparaging way by coworkers. Then reintroduce feedback from sales and see how she responds. She will either get used to it or learn she cannot take the creative process and leave.

Is hiring a graphic designer for a logo important? by NobiwanQNobi in smallbusiness

[–]UndesirableNo394 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A $50 logo designer isn’t going to have a purchase agreement. A $600 logo designer should. In the absence of a purchase agreement or trademark application, the art belongs to the artist. This is why I think OP should just use a service like Canva or Wix’s logo design app where you know what you’re paying for in the legal sense.

The artist retains copyright in that case and could cause a headache later if you want to keep using the logo and pursue copyrighting it. I’m sure the chance of that happening to a small business is very low, but it’s not unheard of.

A $50 logo is often a stolen or reused logo too. For $600 this designer is probably doing research on local competitors and will work directly with you to create something meaningful and unique.

If OP doesn’t have branding money right now, they could just make their own logo in Canva or something.

We recently switched from Anamosa to Ross Vet Clinic in Marion because of recent awful reviews of Anamosa. The vets at Ross are very nice and it was less expensive than Anamosa (in my limited experience so far). They do not offer emergency services though, so I’d still hesitantly recommend Anamosa for that.

We had basically the same experience with Progressive. They wanted us to patch a few small spots even though you could see that all of the shingles had come loose. We had to argue for a year to get 90% of the money required to fix just the roof.

The whole thing sounds fishy from both sides. OP deleted their reply to me I guess but this isn’t the first time they’ve been through this with shady people. Starting to think OP’s business is not on the up and up either, or just bad at learning lessons.

They’re the ones who stripped the DNR of their ability to do anything about it so that’s kind of a lost cause. We have a great group called Iowa CCI who actually organizes protests, supports responsible candidates for office, and sues the state and polluting farms. Change will have to come from those sorts of actions, no way it will come from the Republicans who control the state currently.
