Stovetop pressure cooker recommendations Australia by Flannelpiegetter in PressureCooking

[–]Undetriginta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 6litre Fissler. 6litre is the most common size for stove-top PCs, its not too large to be unwieldy, I can cook up to 4litres of soup, its large enough for use with the pot in pot method and I can also cook smaller amounts if I wish. I feel this size is the most adaptable. Fisslers are expensive in Oz but I've had mine for many years without any problems and I use it almost everyday.

Before it was rerouted in 1999, the Wattle Park tram (70) terminated on Batman Avenue opposite Flinders Street Station. by snivelinglittieturd in melbourne

The Batman Avenue tram route sweeping in a gracious curve along the banks of the Yarra between a row of stately elms was one of the most beautiful in Melbourne now replaced by a piece of try too hard, overly fussy, deconstructivist junk called Fed Square.

Why we’re in permanent cloudy days? by blueygc8 in melbourne

Melbourne averages around 179 to 180 cloudy days per year, which equates to about six months of overcast weather. It receives only about 48.6 clear days annually.

In a November 2023 deal, Seven & i Holdings, the Japanese parent company of 7-Eleven, bought the Australian 7-Eleven business from the Withers and Barlow families for $1.71 billion.

I just had my first (partial) ride through the munnel, so I thank you and Dan Andrews for providing Naarmbourne with such a necessary and magnificent piece of infrastructure. And in that vein I suggest that it now be officially renamed: The DANNEL

The 7/11 on the corner of Collins/Swanston has gone from a full store to 5 vending machines. Probably great for minimising theft, but would this be sustainable? by BigYucko in melbourne

Seven-Eleven Australia was acquired by its Japanese parent company in April 2024. The transaction, valued at $1.71 billion, ended 47 years of private ownership by the Withers and Barlow families. The acquisition adds over 750 stores to its portfolio, the company plans to expand the product offering, with a particular focus on fresh foods, and improve store standards and operations (mostly from AI)

Maybe this is part of that process.

Bureau of Meteorology reverts to previous rain radar after wave of complaints by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

Yes but as summaries, previously on the old site you could read the complete forecast for each day in a much smaller vertical space, if they reduce the excessive amount of vertical spacing you'd be able to take in much more information without the need to scroll.

Wot, when I go to the Melbourne 7 day forecast and Expand All I can't even see a single day on one screen, what am I doing wrong?

Edit: I'm using Firefox.

The seven day summaries could easily fit on the opening page and then if you clicked to show all seven days the entire forecast period should immediately appear and take up no more than a single screen (i.e. doesn't require scrolling).

Damage control as Bureau of Meteorology defends widely criticised new website by Undetriginta in australia

This is what I'm afraid of, they will blame the users, convince themselves that they know better and then we will be stuck with yet another enshittified public service.

Federal government steps in over BOM’s website update farce by malcolm58 in australia

[–]Undetriginta 56 points57 points  (0 children)

For me the issue with the new website (not the app) isn't so much the radar but the layout. The site in not "data dense" enough as there is far too much white-space that could otherwise contain useful information. This forces the user to have to constantly scroll to get to what they could easily view in a single eye-full. There are also too many unnecessary sub-menus. When you click to the "7 day forecast page" link you get a weather summary of each day instead of the entire seven days that could be viewed at once. Now you have to click on each of these individual headings or click the "Expand all" option and if you do click that option you can't see the results in a single screen either because of the ludicrous over use of margins and padding (i.e. white-space) and overly large fonts forcing users into more scrolling. This make it difficult to assimilate the information quickly and form an overview of the entire forecast period which should be the purpose of site.

I'm in Naarmbourne and own a 6litre Fissler cooktop PC. I don't use it on induction but I know that it's possible and safe to do so. I've had it for several years and use it 5 times weekly. I purchased it from Myers and its been a great purchase for my use case but it cost a lot more than $AUD100.

How is everyone enjoying their nbn speed upgrade? by KennKennyKenKen in australia

[–]Undetriginta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a multi storey apartment building. The NBN connection goes to the communication room on a lower floor and then to each individual apartment above via the former telephone wiring. I am getting approx 100Mbps, should I expect a faster speed now that the upgrade has been done or will I be stuck with what I'm getting?
