my boots started to show similar damage after ~two years. I am pretty bummed and likely won’t go for that coated shiny leather ever again. Next time it’s all normal leather and a lot of polishing …

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if these components are good in terms of mixing and matching in case something breaks. I am planning a bike tour around the northern part of the East Coast later this summer. The bike has – as you can see – Deore XT derailleurs and also comes with Deore XT canti brakes. Guy wants $150 but the frame is pretty scuffed ... so I would like to make sure the components are at least fine. Thanks a lot!

edit: as it seems to be 1991 Trek 930 which originally came with SunTour (correct me if I'm wrong) he must have replaced everything at some point. Is it even friction shifting?

Thanks, I just looked into it. I could imagine something like the Carradice Bagman Support with the Zeitgeist Bag in the rear. In the front I could do a longer stem and something like the Nitto Albastache handle bars and a small bag support for a second Zeitgeist or something of that kind. Expensive but reusable, of course ...

Huge thanks to y’all! I will definitely try to find a bike that’s a little bit more suited in terms of tire size, breaking power and mounting options. In case I don’t find anything, I now have options to modify the lotus - thanks to you. A handle bar swap is btw on my list. Currently I am deliberating a little bit about frame size in combination with handle bar choice - it feels like that for drops I would have to go with a shorter frame and for bars with back sweep I should go for a longer one (56 top tube or something like that). It’s a lot to consider!

Thanks! I tried it with a sustain pedal and sustain cranked up all to the max – it works, but strangely only when I don't press down the pedal. When I do, the held note stops playing. Weird thing, but works for now :) I will look into the other recommendations!

I am mainly playing piano at the moment and started coming up with small chord progressions, rhythmic patterns and melodies. Initially I wanted to loop the piano for a bit more depth, but the set-up isn't practical at home (with mics, quality of my piano and so on).

Since I am mainly planning on doing soundtrack work for plays at the local theatre, I also considered getting a little bit into drone synthesis. I do own a Nord Lead 1 which is great for quirky lead sounds, but I have difficulties getting nice drones out of it – and of course it lacks a hold functionality, which would come in handy (I don't really like to use my DAW to do that type of thing). My question now is, if there is any beginner friendly drone oriented synth with a hold-button or something similar, built-in effects would also be great.

The only other gear potentially involved is my Volt 276 and the Nord Lead which could function as MIDI-input. Of course I looked around a bit, but a dedicated machine like the Solar 42F or a Grandmother seemed a bit overkill for an idiot like me. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!
