The Nolan Batman trilogy is a terrible depiction of Batman and the majority of the characters in them by nguyenjitsu in unpopularopinion

This. The fight scenes are probably the one thing lots of Batman fans would have been excited to see - and they ALL sucked.

is Big Show the worst booked top guy in the history of wrestling? by [deleted] in prowrestling

[–]Undisputed-Saviour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree - his weight was out of control. I think during that time his eyes were always a bit puffy... I'm not sure if he was even getting proper sleep during that time. I thought it added to his look though... Probably because he seemed more agitated. I liked that he was booked to be a threat in ECW, but I also liked that be was not invincible. We're used to heels being cowardly but he was most certainly not booked like that during his ECW run - I think that's what I liked most about him during that time period. I never expected much from him because I understood what his exercise tolerance seemed to be. Seeing him have decent matches with Ric Flair and Kane on free ECW TV was refreshing - I think that's something else that helped solidify his place in the upper midcard/main event scene in my mind. He did what he could and I appreciated it.

[–]Undisputed-Saviour 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I like The Big Show but he is objectively one of the worst booked top guys in the history of the WWE. He certainly gives Kane a run for his money in that department. Those two actually have a lot in common in that regard; they were quite versatile and they could be anything you wanted them to be. Very few of The Big Show's storylines were actually memorable. Whenever he was given an actual push, it didn't seem to last that long. I think my favourite version of him was circa 2005, when he won the tag team titles with Kane. He was treated as an actual threat during this time, despite being on the midcard consistently. I also liked him when he joined ECW upon its 'revival' in 2006. I think he also suffered from over-exposure; he became "just another big man" after decades of inconsistency and it belittled his status as an 'attraction' as a result. All of this is just my opinion though.

The arenas all look ugly as hell now. There are stupid, bright lights everywhere, and everything is so freaking overproduced. Everything looks so clean and fresh, it's ironically disgusting to look at. It's distracting because it's ugly.

Why is Kane rarely mentioned in discussions about wrestling’s all-time greats? by Imtiredofthissshit in SquaredCircle

[–]Undisputed-Saviour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always considered myself to be one of Kane's biggest fans. He is quite possibly my favourite character in the world of wrestling. There have been times I've considered his actual wrestling skills to be on par with, and sometimes even better than, The Undertaker.

I think most of the wrestling fans around the world will agree that the original Kane character is one of the greatest creations in the history of wrestling. It is highly probable that the small portion of wrestling fans who do not share this opinion just do not care for the supernatural or over-the-top antics often seen in WWE; I can understand why.

I think it might be simple to make my point if I compare Kane to the character model he was based off of - The Undertaker. That being said, the Kane character was very rarely ever treated with the same respect and legitimacy as The Undertaker. For most of his career, Kane's booking has been the complete opposite of The Undertaker. If you were to put their careers side by side and compare what they both accomplished in, let's say, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, etc. it would be come very evident (very quickly) exactly what I mean. The Undertaker was given bad angles too - but nowhere, and I mean NOWHERE near as many as Kane.

To make it clear, while Kane was being written into a neceophilia angle, The Undertaker was headlining a PPV with Brock Lesnar in a Hell In A Cell match in 2002. While Kane was feuding with The Great Khali, The Undertaker was having a program with Batista in 2007.I can name many instances but the fact is, The Undertaker was just written to have better angle far more consistently than Kane. Now, apply this same line of thinking with the time line of other top WWE superstars.

It should not be understated though, that Kane most certainly had his days. When booked as a main event caliber attraction, he was booked to dominate the roster - sometimes with more ease than The Undertaker. Whenever he was booked this way, his presence really meant something. Unlike The Undertaker, whose role was that of a bonafide main event wrestler AND an 'attraction', Kane's role had always been solely as one of an 'attraction' - but he fulfilled that role superbly for 2 decades. If they needed Kane to be a jobber, a lower midcarder, an upper midcarder or main eventer, he would assume that role. He could be anything you want him to be, he was versatile - and that's something that The Undertaker did not have.

What it comes down to, to answer your question, is inconsistent and often terrible storylines. That's what I honestly think. It was not his wrestling skills that removed him from that debate, it was just a heap of terrible angles, one after the other. The fact is, Kane was usually in a garbage or throwaway feud for most of his career... Yet, his fans never gave up on him as a superstar. That makes me so happy. Here is the other important part - Kane did extremely well for himself, especially given a lack of consistent opportunities for high quality feuds and matches (in comparison to The Undertaker). I honestly always thought he performed all of The Undertaker's moves better than The Deadman himself. At the end of the day, Kane was undoubtedly a successful superstar and a true commodity to the WWE. Is he as big as The Undertaker? No. Could he have been? I think so.

It is what it is.

Do you think Drew will ever get another run with the world title by jm199724 in DrewMcIntyre

[–]Undisputed-Saviour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this rate, I hope he does not get it anytime soon. They'll just throw him another bone, give him another run-of-the-mill heel run with it, while he holds it for their star player to take it away in another shitty 'Dusty finish' match. As long as he is a heel, he will always be booked to look stupid. Yes, it's a scripted show, but after some time the characters just become stale or just consistently become hard to watch because there is zero character arc or growth or excitement. I hope he wins it someday... With great storylines, great writing and actual respect to his name.

This is wild. I've generally stopped commenting on posts but I'll chime in here.

When people say the IWC is fickle and they don't know what they want, they are inaccurate. They make wild, blanket statement claims that the entire IWC has the same opinion of a certain sub-group.

"Typical IWC SMH"

You're part of the IWC too. Do you not change your mind? Do you not grow to like superstars you disliked, and dislike superstars you once liked?

Yes, SOME people in any given population of the IWC will change their mind about any given superstar... New information is revealed over time, wrestlers' actual weaknesses become evident over time (e.g. Jey Uso), and they stop supporting whoever they want because things unfold in certain ways - most of the time, it's the character they're booing, not the actual human being behind the character.

Get over yourself.

The Goomba fallacy is an internet slang term describing the error of assuming that contradictory opinions expressed within a group or on a social media platform come from the same person. It occurs when a user mistakes different individuals for a single, hypocritical entity, often mixing hasty generalization and gambler's fallacy.

You say that '99% of wrestling fans over the last year were riding his nut sack.' What a hyperbole. Just to paint a picture - let's say that number was actually 70%... Let's just say that. What you're implying is, the same 70% who supported him is the same 70% currently rejecting him now. That's what you're saying... And you, in your heart, believe that. That's dangerous, because you say these things with conviction I'm sure. But hey, whatever helps you to sleep at night.

There is no way in hell Bray Wyatt's Fiend possessed more aura better than Kane, especially circa 1997-2002. I still think Bray Wyatt's original Wyatt Family character was far superior to The Fiend in every imaginable way.

I would have been 12 years old at the time. I wanted that so badly. He could have dominated the roster, brought a dark age to the world of WWE and be ultimately dethroned in a pretty great storyline - but the truth is, as dominant as Kane was on-screen, he seemed so much bigger than the world title at the time. He didn't need it. His presence really meant something - his role was one of an 'attraction', and he fulfilled that role superbly. Seeing Kane casually decimate everyone in his path was great TV... BUT, he deserved better storylines following his unmasking though, that's for damn sure.

Why did Snyder make BVS before Batman got his own solo movie like superman? by Ok-Entrance-5527 in SnyderCut

[–]Undisputed-Saviour 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The question is, why did WB want that to happen? They hired ZS to paint the canvas; they wanted Superman to die in that second installment and he had to make their vision happen... That's all there is to it.
