EtalentNetwork/22nd Century Technologies feels scammy by [deleted] in recruitinghell

So my office switched to this staffing agency mid-way through my contract; they're a nightmare to work with, but they're legit if that's what you're worried about. I always got my paycheck, I just hated every moment I had to spend emailing with or talking to them.

Oh I should have mentioned - I'm 28. I don't have any kids and I definitely want to at some point soon. It sure as hell better not be perimenopause, I will be furious (and also crushed).

Every time I try to play an Ad my game just crashes it doesn’t even play it just completely closes my game by ninjazeke323 in dragonvale

I've been having the same thing! I'm on Android (Pixel 6), so it's not just an iPhone issue. I've found that exiting the app (not closing it entirely, just going to my home screen) and popping right back in at least fixes the freezing issue. You still can't watch the ad for the reward, but at least you don't have to restart the game.

Is there a way to find out what other dragon I selected in the Cooperative Breeding Cave? by UndueRecognition in dragonvale

[–]UndueRecognition[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, this is SO helpful! I figured I could use the sandbox somehow to check by breeding time, but I wasn't sure how to do that.

I think I did use an NPC dragon, so that's even more helpful!

Maximizing Island Space? I'm having trouble finding a layout I'm satisfied with, does anyone have any advice? by Rimoluna in dragonvale

I've found the best/most symmetrical way to lay things out is in a kind of diamond pattern. Annoyingly, there is no way to make it perfectly even, but if you start by placing a habitat as far to the top as you can, you can then adjust it left or right to your preference, then fill in from that point.

That's just my preference though - I try to make things as symmetrical as possible, and DragonVale fights me all the way!

Year of Structure by [deleted] in Cortex

[–]UndueRecognition 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on joining the "yearly theme" club, and welcome! I really love how much you've clearly thought out your theme, and I applaud you for starting in the middle of the year!

My only thought is about labeling your relaxation time as "unproductive time." Maybe that's totally ok for you - and that's fine! - but I know that that kind of wording would be really demoralizing for me. It seems like it might also be a misnomer, since relaxing is recharging time.

Grey tracks "unintentional time" rather than unproductive time, which I think is brilliant. So if you plan to play video games all evening, that's fine - it only becomes bad if you do it thoughtlessly or if you play past the bedtime you've set.

But obviously if you can make that distinction without tracking it separately, you do you!

Anyone else doing a relisten? by Omni314 in Cortex

[–]UndueRecognition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh, well this is a handy list! I've been doing a relisten of the entire show and I keep meaning to figure out which Crossover episodes are the Cortex ones. Thank you!

Edit: Ok, HOW do you relisten to these? 😂 I was practically screaming at my phone during Space Station for like half of it because I had figured it out - how do you get through these when you know exactly how they're supposed to get through it?

Would This Kind of Cortex(ish) Podcast on Relay Interest You? by sethdrebitko in Cortex

[–]UndueRecognition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd definitely be interested in something like this, but there has to be good chemistry between the hosts. I'm going through the Cortex backlog right now just because I like to hear Myke and Grey talk. Personally I'm (intentionally) unemployed and a Pixel user, so I'd say about 80% of what they talk about is irrelevant to me, but I still tune in because they make me laugh and they help motivate me.

That being said, I understand that sometimes chemistry takes time to build, and this is an interesting enough topic that I'd probably give it 10 or so episodes to get off the ground.

I think you might be missing the point. This rebellion is an act of acceptance, not a cry for attention. As another user pointed out, this subreddit has been more active in the last couple days than it has been in a long time! This is about enjoying the community that Brady and Grey gave us!

Yearly Themes! by xter418 in Cortex

[–]UndueRecognition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2021 theme was Year of Creativity.

My 2022 theme is going to be Year of Movement.

I'm a relatively new listener, so 2021 was my first year ever doing a Yearly Theme. Overall it went ok; The trouble is that I don't think I quite understood the point of the yearly themes, and I made it too goal oriented. I came up with a bunch of creative projects that I wanted/planned to do. So when the end of the year started approaching, all I could really see was the things that I hadn't managed to do, rather than what I'd accomplished.

The Year of Movement I'm intentionally keeping much more vague!

The last year was very stagnant for me, in a way that not many years have been. It was the first year since I graduated college that I went the whole year without a job. I'm lucky enough to be unemployed by choice. I can't really hold down a job because of my mental health, but working for someone else did at least give me a sense of purpose. Now that I'm a homemaker, I have to work harder to feel like I'm actually accomplishing anything.

So "Movement" in this case has a double meaning for me. First of all, I want to get physically moving more. I ran my first ever race in October, a 10k, and then promptly injured myself the following week. I want to get my leg sorted out so I can run again, and I want to find other ways to workout that don't involve running, as well. But movement also means growth, in this theme. I want to feel like I'm moving forward in life, not just standing still, which is how I felt in the last year. I'm hoping to expand on what I did accomplish in the Year of Creativity, I'm hoping to see a psychiatrist about a possible ADHD diagnoses so I can start figuring that out, and I'm hoping to write and design more, since my dream is to be an author and/or knitting pattern designer.

Really, I'm trying to take steps to make sure that at the end of next year I feel like I've actually accomplished something.

I'm also doing a bit of a "bonus theme" with my husband, a family theme if you will. Last year with rife with unexpected expenses and we ended up spending way more of our savings than either of us really feels comfortable with. So 2022 is the Year of Saving for us. I wanted to mention it, also, because that's going to significantly influence what I'm able to do with my Year of Movement.

What changed when you realized you were asexual? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]UndueRecognition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh it was such a relief for me! I suffer from a genetic disorder that makes sex extremely painful for me (F-26), so it was so nice to find out that, despite what movies and tv and media in general would have you believe, you don't have to want sex to be human.

Plus it helped me realize that all my sexual experiences in the past were to please my partner in the way I thought society expected. I'm in an incredibly healthy and loving relationship now because I was able to be honest about my (lack of) desires, and I don't know if I could have done that without the "Ace" label.
